By playing well or achieving specific goals, you can earn special collectable items.
There are many different items you can earn. Here are a couple of quick previews:
broken tie - awarded for winning a game on a tie-break conundrum.
baseball cap - awarded for finding a unique maximum in a letters round (known as a
darren).
Benjamin - awarded for scoring 100 or more points in a regular 15-rounder.
pencil - awarded for finding a max word that no one has found before.
Duel jewel - awarded for completing a
Daily Duel.
Caesar on a stick - awarded for beating the Apterous Caesar
bot in a 9-or-more round game.We won't spoil all the fun you can have discovering them, so you'll have to work out the rest as you earn them! Hint: the icon for the item is usually some kind of pun on or oblique reference to the achievement it represents.
A message in the game lobby's chat panel at the end of a game will let you know if you have earned any new items.
You can check out the item tab in the game lobby to see which rounds you earned items for.
You can see which items a player has earned in two ways:
the display case on their
player profile page on the apterous.org website
the user panel that pops up when you click on their name in-gameOccasionally, special item contests are run, giving players a chance to earn super exclusive items for a limited period only.
