![]() | Dave Kempshall Obviously, this should be called Round 8, not Round 7 :) |
![]() | Sarah Binns Out in round 2 haha |
![]() | Mark Jeary-Fairbairn I got a wee bit confused with the “as many times as you like” part - does this mean within the selection or at all?
|
![]() | Mark Jeary-Fairbairn Rather this “ You can use that vowel multiple times, but only that vowel” |
![]() | Dave Kempshall You can only use letters within your selection Mark (aside from switching one in as per Touch rules). |
![]() | David Holmes Why on earth does Susie think limbic isn't a word?! |
![]() | David Holmes Honestly so annoyed. Don't think I've been this annoyed since she disallowed goujon. (But of course goujons is fine because... reasons.) |

![]() | Tom B oooph. you can't swap letters |
![]() | Fi Thorne Oh no, I forgot about the 5 letter rule in R1 :-( Will carry on playing anyway for "fun"! |
![]() | Matthew Brockwell @Dave I played my game here:
|
![]() | Dave Kempshall Thanks Matthew - there is definitely a bug with game disappearing as the last thing I check when setting up the round is that I've scheduled 49 fixtures and this is the third round where a game has suddenly gone awol. |
Notes from the organizer: Our leading three continue to hold off the challengers, with Adam yet to play round 7 it means Stu leads with Miriam in 2nd. One bad round can change everything though and the pressure grows between pushing on for the win versus playing conservative.

It's now time for the round that was TBC, so I’ve pulled out of my backside last minute. Apologies if it’s got any flaws I’ve not anticipated.
It’s the final new round for 2025 and it’s back to Touch with a Hyper Touch Letters Attack.
This round limits your vowel usage, or more specifically, the variety of it.
In each round, you can only declare words that use ONE specific vowel to score points. IMPORTANT - These words must be at least 5 (FIVE) letters long or longer otherwise your game scoring ends early.
You can use that vowel multiple times, but only that vowel. You can vary the vowel you use from round-to-round, but no word should contain 2 or more different vowels.
Some examples.
BESTED is fine as it uses two Es and no other vowels.
BEASTED isn’t as you’ve introduced an A.
DEED is also bad as it is only 4 letters in length (minimum of 5).
REFERENCES would a fantastic effort.
TRUTHFUL is pretty good too.
As is ROBOTS
But ROBOTIC has added an I, so is bad.
FACETIOUS would be a total disaster on account of using all five vowels (hence the name of the round).
As we approach the end, the bonus levels rise.
One 20 point bonus is available for anyone who successfully declares (meeting all the criteria above) words that use of the five vowels four times (4 x A, E, I, O, U).
Another 20 point bonus is on offer for anyone who doesn’t resort to any words that only use one vowel i.e. SCANT, FLINT, ANGRY etc.
Getting both bonuses would quite an achievement.
Finally, any valid 5+ words you declare that use no vowels at all, will not only be deemed valid, but will count as double i.e. a 5 letter word with no vowels will score you 10 points. Naturally, doing this would rule you out of getting both bonuses above though.
Good luck!
