Rhys Benjamin

Rhys Benjamin Exactly 24 people signed up, meaning that we won't have any bots! (Unless there's a clamour to add 3 bots + me, but I doubt it.)

Tourney round: Aegilopsists: 2020: Qualifier

<< 2020: Sign-ups | 2020: Group A >>

Notes from the organizer: Thanks for all of your sign-ups.

In the qualifier, you will each play a Prune. The object of this is to determine seedings:

The top 4 highest scores in the qualifier will be category A
5th-8th will be category B
9th-12th will be category C
13th-16th will be category D
and so on.

In the event of ties in the qualifier going over a group's divide (such a tie for fourth place) then the one with the fewest 0s will be seeded higher, then the higher max count, then the lower cumulative letters lengths, excluding 0s.

If sign-ups aren't an exact multiple of 4, up to 3 bots will also play the tournament. Specifically, since Prune can't play itself, these will be Nude, Waldorf, and Plum (in that order). In the interests of fairness, they will also play a qualifier against Prune.

The qualifier matters because the group stage will be drawn football-style, as per the FIFA World Cup or UEFA Champions League. Specifically, each group will have one Cat A, one Cat B, one Cat C, and so on. This ensures fair groups and a good chance of qualification for the highest-ranked players in the qualifier.

Any questions, I'm happy to answer. I'll leave qualifying open for a week.
