Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier Zarte, your dates seem wrong, does that matter?

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre BUGGER! Anyone know if Charlie can change them from the back end. I'm just getting my months mixed up =/

Charlie Reams

Charlie Reams Yep, just file a private ticket.

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre Thanks Charlie :)

Jason Turner

Jason Turner Zarte, you say new entrants join at the bottom, then state ordered by pro rank. surely rank is immaterial except in the case of creating more than one extra league. unless you are planning on putting new entrants into a league of a level with there pro rank status. then the obvious question arises, why have the group stages?

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre Well for a start, I think there'll be more than 1 extra league. For a second, it becomes incredibly difficult to work out relegations from the bottom exisiting division, if the relegations would be going into non pre-defined leagues.

Adam Gillard

Adam Gillard Please could you provide a link to the final standings from the pre-group stages and the make-up of each real division?

Ian Volante

Ian Volante Any news on the make-up of the divisions yet? Only five days before we start!

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre Here we go! The first official groups for the fully divided leagues. You will have 6 weeks from today to play your games and they will be processed when I wake up - it's too late to put 224 matches in manually now.

Chris Butler

Chris Butler I should have membership again in about a week so I'm definitely still up for being in this

Eddie McCullagh

Eddie McCullagh You may want to remove my twin brother Edward from this tournament as he won't be available to play :P

Eddie McCullagh

Eddie McCullagh Don't even know how he could possibly have signed up in the first place!

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre ...bollocks. Sorry Eddie, on it now.

Oli Moore

Oli Moore I think six weeks is too long to wait. I think you should reduce the time to 1 month. That's plenty of time to complete the games I reckon

Julie McCarthy

Julie McCarthy I'd be OK either way - 4 or 6 weeks. As long as there's a deadline that everyone has to stick to, saves any messing about with stragglers at the end.

James Hall

James Hall I'm probably happier with 4, tbh

Ian Volante

Ian Volante As, much as I'd like a quicker cycle, I think shorter than six weeks would cause more attrition than necessary over the longer term.

Chris Butler

Chris Butler I agree, everyone should be able to play 7 games in a month. I think a calendar month would work better because people would remember the looming deadline each month

Julian Joss

Julian Joss At This rate 4 weeks would be tricky, i have been on every night this week and only managed 1 game.

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre There was a reason I picked 6, and it'll stay as such. Believe me, much consideration was given.

Oli Moore

Oli Moore In Zarte we trust

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre ^^^^ *like*

Harry Newton

Harry Newton Tell me about it! I've been crap so far.

Julian Joss

Julian Joss all i have to say is "I LOVE YOU BARRY"

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre Sorry for the delay guys, had a hectic weekend. Tables have now been updated.

Thomas Carey

Thomas Carey Hey Zarte, how many stages of this will there be?

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre Recurrent. It's just a league that'll go on until noone can be arsed any more.

Adam Gillard

Adam Gillard or March 10003

Adam Gillard

Adam Gillard Sorry, that should be 13 March 10000: http://www.apterous.org/proranks.php?period=521785&variant=0&dic=0

Jon O'Neill

Jon O'Neill That's my big 8-0-1-1.

Charlie Reams

Charlie Reams That's the worst formation I've ever heard of.

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre I dunno whose it'd be either, since there's no more Levein...

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre Some really interesting things developing in the leagues. Also a lot of tossers who've done vanishing acts...

Elliot Bowker

Elliot Bowker i thought i would have to drop out but there isnt many games being played in div 7 at all, shame

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre No, you'll be fine Elliot lol

Chris Butler

Chris Butler Don't be dis-heartened Zarte, the 'tossers' will drop-off, leaving the ones that want to keep this up, the number of divisions might get reduced a bit, but I think it will get better and better

Chris Butler

Chris Butler Jordan & Jamie, when do you want to play our games, just noticed the deadline is looming. I can do it after 6 and night

Jamie French

Jamie French Chris, I've arranged to play another game tomorrow at 8 so just before or after that would be ideal for me. If you can't make that aptomail me and I'll try to accommodate whatever time you're free.

S J

S J I saw harry newton few time but never had any chance to complete the game with her

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre still got a week SJ :)

Julie McCarthy

Julie McCarthy Keiran Bray and I have both had difficulty keeping to times we've arranged to play, so if we end up not completing, I think it's fair it's recorded as a draw if that's possible.
Joseph Krol and Rhys Benjamin haven't been on apterous for many weeks and haven't responded to aptomails.

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre 6 days to go people - I'd be sending out messages if I were you.

Kieran Bray

Kieran Bray Julie, Julian, Dave and Daniel - I'll attempt to be around tomorrow evening/night (Tuesday), if you can only do daytime Thursday would be my favoured day. Sorry I've not been around much to play.

Steve Balog

Steve Balog I will be on most likely on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. I've been in touch with a couple of the people I've been needing to play but if you see me on tomorrow we can play then.

Dave Smith

Dave Smith Kieran - cheers - I hope to be on at some point tonight, sounds like it's our only chance to cross paths as I'm at a christmas shindig on Thursday. Fingers crossed!

Julie McCarthy

Julie McCarthy Thursday most likely for me, Keiran, ta.

Steve Balog

Steve Balog Alright, got most of my games done. If by chance I can't get a chance to play my game vs. Eskay just call it a forfeit on my end -- we were both on for a solid hour at the same time today but I got a phone call and was on the phone that whole time - so it's my fault this match didn't happen today.

Chris Marshall

Chris Marshall How are ties decided?

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre Total Points Scored.

Mark D

Mark D In my game against Thomas, I typoed the conundrum. Had I not done so, he would have been relegated instead of me. Balls.

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre That is about as unlucky as you can get... I'm torn between wanting to give you a hug, and laughing at you.

Mark D

Mark D Eh, it's all right. I'll just burn the whole of Apterous down. FIRE CLEANSES ALL.

Tom Cappleman

Tom Cappleman Yeah, realised at the end of my game with Innis how lucky I was. Though at least me stealing the points for the conundrum didn't make a difference in itself.

Julie McCarthy

Julie McCarthy I know I said that Keiran's and my game should be drawn if we don't manage to play, but I have been playing twice when we've arranged to play, and he's only played one game on apterous in the last 5 and a half weeks, so I think a draw would be rather unfair on me.

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre Couldn't agree more Julie :)

Kieran Bray

Kieran Bray I'm happy to let Julie have the win, Zarte, it's no problem.

Andrew Feist

Andrew Feist I notice that the Challonge listing has changed its mind about who's getting relegated out of Rex Division.

Also looks like we have an entire division's worth of dropouts :(

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre OH FFS I WISH IT WOULD STOP DOING THAT!

Barry French

Barry French This "Tosser" has spent the past 8 weeks focusing on his new job and looking after his 6 week old son and helping the wife out. Sorry that is such a crime! I'm back and ready to play now however

Barry French

Barry French ready to play next season*

Barry French

Barry French and sorry to anyone its affected

Ryan Taylor

Ryan Taylor Who shat in your cornflakes?

Barry French

Barry French 26/11/12 Zarte said "also a lot of tossers who've done vanishing acts". There's more to life than this site when you have a new job and kid to look after and I take real offence to basically being called a tosser because I have real life priorities

Ryan Taylor

Ryan Taylor 31/08/12 - I think Miriam (and others) would take real offence at being called a "patronising fuckhead" because they are only being polite: http://www.apterous.org/chat.php?jumptime_hour=5&jumptime_mins=57&jump_day=31&jump_month=8&jump_year=2012

Heather Styles

Heather Styles Can you tone it down a bit, guys? It's the season of love and understanding, after all...

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre Considering I also had an e-mail from you Barry saying that you couldn't be fucked with any of us - or words to that effects, and I'd only kept you in on the offchance you'd changed your mind...

Barry French

Barry French Is this what you do, ostracise anyone who has difficulties or isn't a good player on the site? No I never liked being told I played a good game when I didnt. But I learned eventually and I dont like but Ill just say what I think in my own head rather than to anyone else. Why drag up the past you got nothing better to do than make my life hell? I came back here to redeem myself and what do you do try and make me stay away whats the bloody point?!

I couldnt be arsed with this league because Rhys was being stupidly awkward over times to play the game. I said I was sick of apterous as a whole because not many people I played wanted to be helpful or even just exchange light pleasantries. I was trying really hard to be a better person but no, people treat it like its the bloody internet chess club.

I never said I couldn't be f'd with Apterous I have the original email that was sent to you so dont twist my words. I said if Rhys wants to piss about then he can have the win, I werent abl

Barry French

Barry French Basically if Im not welcome here tell me to leave and I will. I wanted a chance to come back show I can just enjoying playing games and trying harder to be a better person for it.

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre "Plus Im sick of apterous" - apterous = us, sick of/fucked with - one's just a vulgarised version of the other. If you want to reapply feel free, but I'd really give over with the persecution complex - it's hardly going to make people inclined to exchange the forementioned "light pleasantries"

Ryan Taylor

Ryan Taylor Make your life hell? Ostracise you for having difficulties? From that one comment I posted? Really Barry? Come on. I was only highlighting a bit of irony. Take it on the chin (or two) and move on.

Adam Gillard

Adam Gillard *Hugs Barry*

Jen Steadman

Jen Steadman Barry is probably slightly on edge because he's just become a father (congratulations!), and newborns, to my knowledge, mostly exist to deprive their parents of sleep.

Ian Volante

Ian Volante Wow.

Barry French

Barry French No Zarte stop using your interpretations and twisting my words. Sick of apterous - sick of the game! I was playing it so much I was getting more pissed off than was really worthwhile! There were a few people I couldnt really care about but I was talking about THE GAME. Taking an enforced break was best thing for me because I come back refreshed and trying to enjoy it like I did when I first signed up!

Ryan you decided to highlight something from months ago when all I've come back to try and do is redeem myself for that and to try and fit in a little better. All I try to do is fit in because I struggle to communicate in a normal way (which is often exploited by the majority) I try to participate in conversations but then I'm basically ignored like I dont belong there or mocked for giving any suggestions. Youd think Id be used to it now as it happens wherever I go I just thought a group of people who are either extremely intelligent or share a common issue of mine (Aspergers) might ha

Barry French

Barry French It seems even intelligent people must find somebody else to pick on and Im the easy target. Should be ashamed of yourselves those who take the piss out of me. I came here and wasted £20 for diddly squat. I'll leave you over-qualified for MENSA guys to it I obviously dont fit in anywhere without you all wanting to rip me to shreds.

Ian Volante

Ian Volante I don't think people here are like that Barry. Feels like misinterpretation on both sides, you feel picked upon, the others feel taken aback at the thought of it. It's not like that really.

Chris Butler

Chris Butler What Ian said. Congrats Barry :) Come inside and put your feet up :)

Barry French

Barry French As long as it isnt like that because I dont want to waste my time I do get of my own somewhere Im not welcome. I used to see the good in everyone but too much happens online to make me look at the bad more often which makes me cloud my own judgment, I try really hard to be normal and to fit in if guys met me in person you may understand a bit better I am not anything like on here in person. I dont wish harm on anybody all I want is to get along with people okay now I understand the proper post-game etiquette. Ill leave it at that sorry for any misunderstanding

Barry French

Barry French Thanks for the congrats messages Jen and Chris btw :) newborn and 18 month old is bloody hard work but worth it ;)

Show all comments
Ian Volante

Ian Volante The web is full of arseholes, the people here are usually just arseholes for comedy effect. Plus the usual problem of the tone of written comments (or lack thereof) doesn't help.

Barry French

Barry French yeah that certainly is an achilles heel for me. I just want to focus on getting the rust off hope I can just be left be now so I can enjoy this great game once again :)

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre Barry, you'll still need to re-apply for the next cycle on the front page - Anyone who didn't play a single game got kicked out and I have to be fair with that. You'll start from the bottom division, but you can work up.

Barry French

Barry French Thats fine Zarte I think I should be in bottom division anyway so no axe to grind there. Merry Christmas to all...

S J

S J you can join me! happy chrismas
