Tourney round: APGA Tour 2026: T1: The Players Championship - Round 2

<< T1: The Players Championship - Round 1

Notes from the organizer: Dan B and Jamie F are our leaders on -17 through round 1 with Sean D a shot behind. Mark O'R and Tom F lead a tightly bunched chasing pack that includes world number 1 Tom C. Defending champion Matthew B has given himself work to do with a first round of -5.

Round 2 sees us tackle a Standard Letters Attack and follows a tried and tested format, but with a twist (read below Special Scoring Criteria + Special Hole).

Same set-up as last time - round 1-18 count towards your ‘golf round’ (disregard round 19 and 20)

Scoring is as follows:

10 letter word = Albatross (-3)
9 Letter word = Eagle (-2)
8 Letter word = Birdie (-1)
7 Letter word = Par (0)
6 Letter word = Bogey (+1)
5 Letter word = Double Bogey (+2)
4 Letter word or worse = Triple Bogey (+3)

SPECIAL SCORING CRITERIA: There is one key exception to this scoring. All words that begin with a vowel will count as one letter longer than they actually are e.g. the word IMAGES would actually count as a 7 letter word and score you par despite it being only 6 letters long. ISOLATION would count as a 10 and score you a rare albatross.

SPECIAL HOLE: Hole 17 lurks again. Declarations on round 17 should avoid using the letter S and the letter E anywhere in your word. The penalty? A Triple Bogey irregardless of the words length of validity.

This means on the 17th hole, DURATIONS which - on any other hole would score you an outstanding eagle - would actually score you a Triple Bogey. You shouldn’t have got greedy and should have stuck with DURATION for a birdie.

Good luck.
