Ian Volante

Ian Volante Not sure how to interpret the bonus point. There are theoretically 90 (ish) large numbers, so how does that work?

Sean D

Sean D I'm reading it as one round of each combination... i.e. 1 large, 2 large, etc

Ian Volante

Ian Volante Oh, that makes sense.

Chris Hare

Chris Hare Sorry, that's a typing-under-the-influence error. It should say "one round for each available selection of large numbers, i.e. 1L, 2L, 3L, 4L."

Elizabeth Beer

Elizabeth Beer So is it that you have to max one round for each of 1-4L for the bonus point, or is it that you have to get the exact target (seeing as Aegi is stepdown scoring)? How is this “marked” in the main game? Is it the sum of all rounds that are played using all of the numbers, regardless of whether the exact target was found?

Chris Hare

Chris Hare For the BTP, successfully solving (i.e. scoring 10 points for) one round each for 1L, 2L, 3L and 4L is necessary and sufficient. You don't have to use Omelette rules to do so.

For the main game score, which I seem to have not pasted the paragraph for, this is the mark scheme:

"Your score for the round is the total points scored in rounds where you use Omelette rules (use all the numbers in the selection). In case of a tie, greater number of Omeletted maxes wins, then greater number of Omeletted 1-aways, and so on. If any ties still exist after 9-away, I'll flip a coin."

Thanks for noticing that I'd missed this out!

Ben Bazzard

Ben Bazzard Oh, shame. I thought 'solve' meant complete a round following the rules of this particular game. Was chuffed with myself thinking I'd got the BP there :(

Dave Kempshall

Dave Kempshall Ben - I think you did get the BP as you solved exactly one of each 1L, 2L, 3L and 4L. That's all you had to do.

Chris Hare

Chris Hare Dave is correct, Ben. Your rounds 1, 4, 5 & 8 get you the BTP.

Ben Bazzard

Ben Bazzard So sorry. I confused this game with Game 2 and somehow combined them in my mind. (Please don't combine those games next year!)
Complete idiocy on my part, possibly due to first alcohol in several months :-D

Ravi Choudhary

Ravi Choudhary Chris - In Round 5, I didn't use all the numbers, so I wish to have that discounted.

Tourney round: The Twelve Games of Chris-mas: Vol. IV: The Holly and The: Game Five

<< Game Four | Game Six >>

Notes from the organizer: Game Five! Don't mind me; I'm always this colour.

For this game, I'd like you to play an Aegilops Numbers Attack according to Omelette rules, which is to say that you must use all the numbers in the selection in your solution. (You may use numbers in dead-end calculations.) Will this be easy, or will it be difficult? I don't know, but maybe you'd like to find out.

The BONUS TOURNAMENT POINT for this round will be awarded to any player who successfully solves (whether by Omelette rules or otherwise) one round for each of the available numbers of large numbers.

If you have any questions about the rules, scoring, or anything else pertaining to this tourney, please feel free to ask.
