Adam Latchford

Adam Latchford can i clarify for option 1, if it remains unsolved does that count? and if it does count, would that count for round number 1? because unsolved is neither incorrect nor slower

Fi Thorne

Fi Thorne I've had to take the rules literally and assume it's okay to carry on after a no solve :-)

Matt OC

Matt OC What about if a time is exact as the previous round? As although it's not quicker, it's neither incorrect nor slower than the previous one :)

Ben Bazzard

Ben Bazzard doh! I let excitement get the better of me: went into autopilot when I saw TOOTHACHE and typed it even though I was well over the time of my previous solve :(
so now hoping for one of the other scoring options to be chosen!

Tom Cappleman

Tom Cappleman Andy, do you decide yourself which of the options is in use? Or is it random pick? (Meanwhile my failure of the day was just straight up mistyping a solution that I had)

Andy SC

Andy SC @Adam - If Option 1 is the scoring method, it's only attempts at the conundrums that count. It won't be punished if you don't have an attempt at the conundrum

@Matt - If option 1 is the scoring method - I'll allow it if they are the same time because if it went to two decimal places it could be quicker or slower than the previous one.

Andy SC

Andy SC @Tom - I'm randomly deciding each option. Makes it more fun if I don't know in advance.

Andres S.

Andres S. Hopefully my playthrough should be good on most ends, don't really care if I'm the fastest but it's definitely a good challenge

Andy SC

Tourney round: Advent Calendar 2024: Day 5: Conundrum Attack

<< Day 4: Goatblitz | Day 6: Spoilage Letters Attack >>

Notes from the organizer: Day 5 is a Conundrum Attack.

Three scoring options are as follows:

Option 1: Correct solves must get quicker each time. An incorrect guess or a conundrum slower than the previous one will end your score at that point. Under this criteria players tied on points will be separated quickest solve time at the point their score ended.

Option 2: 10 additional points for each conundrum solved that starts with a consonant and ends with a vowel

Option 3: 10 additional points for each conundrum solved that starts with a vowel and ends with a consonant
