Liam O

Liam O can someone selecting 3l or 4l achieve a par score?

Darren Godfrey

Darren Godfrey Sorry Dave, was held up by incredibly slow play so I lobbed my clubs into the trees and went to the 19th to get mortal

Stu Harkness

Stu Harkness Avoid slow play at all times :D

Hence why I'm not bothering (yet)...

Dave Kempshall

Dave Kempshall Liam - no, not with 3L or 4L - it's a risk / reward thing. Going for the birdie comes with the risk of a bogey or worse.

Ross Allatt

Ross Allatt I'm throwing my clubs and myself into the water around the 17th after that.

Tourney round: APGA Tour 2024: 4. Players Championship: Round 4

<< 4. Players Championship: Round 3 | 5. The Masters: Round 1 >>

Notes from the organizer: So, we head into the final round at Sawgrass. The field is poised for the final push and the pressure ramps up.

After a letters-fest we move to numbers with a Standard NA, again versus Prune.

Our current leaders is Chris H with an outstanding -1, but Tom C is close on his heels on +1, with Dan, Stu, Liam, Martin, Fiona and Mike further back leading the chasing pack.

To reflect the final round pressure we move to a slightly more complex scoring system, which should simulate the risk / reward strategy we so often see in the final round of a real golf tournament.

Do you go all out hoping to solve 6S when the penalty for not solving within five quadruple bogey? Or do you plod along with 2L or 1L, safe in the knowledge that 1 or 2 non-exact solves won’t destroy your round? Much will depend on where you currently lie in the leaderboard, I guess.

6S - exact solve - Eagle
4L & 3L - exactly solve - Birdie
2L & 1L - exact solve - Par
2L & 1L - within five - Bogey
4L & 3L - within five - Double bogey
2L & 1L - within ten - Double bogey
6S - within five - Triple bogey
4L & 3L - within ten - Triple bogey
6S - within ten or no score in any selection - Quad bogey

Reminder that only the first 18 rounds of your attack count towards your ‘golf round’. However, and overall ties will be firstly decided by two play-off holes (round 19 and 20 in the final round) and then by best ‘golf round’ score in Round 4, then Round 3, then 2, then 1.

Drive safe and good luck!
