Notes from the organizer: In anticipation of the upcoming new series, I’ve decided to put together a tourney based on two of the most diametrically opposed game shows there have ever been: Countdown and Gladiators!

For those who are somehow unaware, Gladiators was a 90s TV show in which normal fit and strong people (the Contenders) faced off against ridiculously fit and strong people (the Gladiators) in a series of physical games — it was two contenders to a show, and the contender that did better got a small head start in the Eliminator (big assault course at the end). Whichever finished it first would win the contest overall.

People signing up will be sorted into Contenders (the more the merrier) and Gladiators (up to about 10–12 I think) based on their skill level. Hopefully there should be a little gulf between the two groups but it’s ofc unlikely. To any would-be Gladiators reading, the cool nicknames are optional.

In each match, just as in the show, the 2 contenders will play against the Gladiators in any five of 9 different Apto-fied events (immediately to the right of this page) in order to score points. The difference between the contenders’ scores will equate to their head start in the Eliminator (a 26-round Marathon) e.g. a 5-point advantage would also mean a 5-point head start. Whoever wins, after factoring in this head start, will have won the game.

The whole thing is going to be a knockout, but if I get more or less than the ideal 16 (or 32, imagine!) contenders, then there’s also going to be spots for the best losers, or a little preliminary round of some description.
