George Armstrong

George Armstrong One week now until the season is back properly. Thanks to those teams who've already enjoyed an early kickabout. The current friendly results are as follows:

ARS 0-1 WAL
AVL 4-1 WAL
BRI 5-2 WAL
BUR 4-1 WAL
CHE 4-4 WAL
CRY 3-3 WAL
EVE 4-2 WAL
LEE 5-2 WAL
LIV 7-1 WAL
MCI 3-0 WAL
NEW 3-1 WAL
NOR 3-2 WAL
TOT 4-1 WAL
WAT 3-2 WAL
WOL 0-1 WAL

Well to in particular to Bradley who got a max game, and Tom, who struck for 7. I'll add the rest of the results as they come through. Any questions please ask away.

Stu Harkness

Stu Harkness Can you explain how I won that 4-2, but Newcastle won 3-1, despite finishing 6-9 in both games?

George Armstrong

George Armstrong To score a goal, you have to WIN the round with a MAX. You won and maxed rounds 3,5,10,11 and Waldorf got rounds 1 and 4, so 4-2

George Armstrong

George Armstrong Dave won and maxed rounds 5,8, and 10, with Waldorf getting the con, so 3-1

George Armstrong

George Armstrong Correction BRI 5-3 WAL.

Lol knew it wouldn't be long before I got one wrong - I forget the rule that if a numbers round isn't doable, then whoever got closest (with 5, or 10, whichever is the closest possible to the target) scores a goal.

Dave Kempshall

Dave Kempshall Stu - it is one of my favourite scoring systems. Needing max adds another layer of tactics.

Carlo Harrison

Carlo Harrison Hi George, a question on the format - the friendly games have been set up as "winners only", which as you say means the results can be different in the Apto game to that in your scoring system.

But isn't there an option to set the games up in the league as "maxes only", so that the scoring systems are broadly aligned (albeit your own version then knocks out all drawn rounds, to make the scores look more like football scores).

Without that it's hard to know if people will really treat it as a "maxes" game when playing, as rating points for example would be worked out on a different scoring system to your league.

George Armstrong

George Armstrong I've just done it the same way Bradley did last season. But looking at the tourney creator it looks like you can set a few types of letters attacks, plus the standard 15R to be maxes only, but nothing else.
