Thomas Carey

Thomas Carey Because what we really need right now is more sports themed tourneys :)

Dave Kempshall

Dave Kempshall How does team allocation work guys? It would be a lifelong dream come true to take charge of the mighty Villa. Doubt many others will be keen on the job!

George Armstrong

George Armstrong It will work the same as last year - you can request to be any team outside last season's top 4 (Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea). You can also request to not play as any team (if there's one you support the rivals of for example). We'll assign those who don't want a specific team their team based on their rolling rating (except for Bradley, who, as thanks for doing a great job last season running this, is getting the keys to his beloved Man City (and who else'd want those anyway ;) )

George Armstrong

George Armstrong Also there's only 1 definite place left in this tourney so if you're interested stick your name down quick! :D

For those who sign up after the 20 spots have gone:

If there is enough interest we could also run a Championship, but we'd need to fill 24 further spaces, which would be tough. At the very least, you'll be added to the reserves list for when someone decides they cba with this tourney, or just want an apto break (I think we had 4 or 5 of these last season?).

Stu Harkness

Stu Harkness Couldn't we just run League 1 if there's 24?

Stu Harkness

Stu Harkness That way we could have Bolton vs Wigan as well!

George Armstrong

George Armstrong Yes because going to an Accrington Stanley game is top of my bucket list

Thomas Carey

Thomas Carey Ok, that's our 20 - but do feel free to sign up if you missed this, there's probably not enough for a second league but we'll put later sign ups as replacement managers as George said.

If you want a specific team, additional myself or George or both within the next week (a couple of you have already done so lol). See you soon!!

Dave Kempshall

Dave Kempshall If three extras sign up we can always have the European Super League between Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus.

George Armstrong

George Armstrong We'll assign teams on Monday morning (2nd Aug), so you've got until then to submit any requests for managing non top 4 teams, and I'll assign the rest based off of your rolling rating at midnight that morning, so Maus and I then have a couple of weeks to finish sorting things, cheers folks :)

Stu Harkness

Stu Harkness Can we pretend Wigan are PL again?

George Armstrong

George Armstrong You've got Burnley representing average Lancashire clubs isn't that enough? *cough cough they won the tourney last season wd Hazel*

George Armstrong

George Armstrong Just a little reminder you've got till the end of the weekend to let us know if you want to be a specific non top 4 team (or not be a specific team - who'd wanna be Leeds? :P )

And if anyone was wondering how Fiona's name dropped off this list, she kindly gave up her place so Hazel could defend her title. What a G.

Have a good weekend folks

Fiona T

Fiona T And Mike has kindly stepped back so I can play :) So he's the, er, 'G' (yeah I had to google it!) Cheers Mike!

George Armstrong

George Armstrong Morning folks. Teams have been assigned and a round of Friendlies will be up in due course. But for now, you can look at the next couple of months fixtures and see what dread you have ahead ;) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lvTpq3Gm1icZc1iq8KDmmYblAgi6hdtt/edit#gid=26054169

Tourney round: Premier League 21/22: Sign ups

Friendlies >>

Notes from the organizer: Hi, this is apparently back, hosted by myself and George for some reason. Basically - everyone gets a team (you can choose if you want), fixtures are as the real Premier League, it's this format and you score by beating your opponent with a max. The home team picks all the rounds. Two weeks to play each game, please only sign up if you think you can commit to the full 9 months or whatever it is. I'm now going to paste what Bradley put as his description because I'm sure it's better than what I just said

Looking for a long-haul human tournament? You may have come to the right place. Introducing a simulation of the football league; minus the balls, Oscar-winning dives and all that stuff. What I definitely will be running (subject to interest) is a ‘Premier League’ – 20 players who will be allocated to teams based on their pro rank. (I may accept requests to represent non-top 4 teams). A ‘Championship’ may be ran if there’s enough interest. Fixtures will be released every time there is a match-week and you’ll have 2 weeks to play each time.
Now, there will be an unusual scoring system in order to make the scores look realistic – fixtures will be Champions League format and I’ll count outright max winners only (you win the round with a max). This will mean you may win the game but draw or even lose in this tourney. Football can be a cruel game…
Sign-ups: First come, first serve, but priority to those who have played at least 50 games this month; I’m keen to avoid having to deal with unplayed games and potential midseason substitutions. If you don’t think you can commit to a 8 month tourney and/or struggle to play other human tourney games punctually, this isn’t the right tourney for you. I’ll publish rules for dealing with unplayed games soon.
Let’s be ‘avin you!

Ran from: 27 July – 13 August 2021. Format: Champions League. Matches: One-off. Approved.
