Thomas Carey

Thomas Carey OK, as if this tournament couldn't derail any more...

I spoke to Joe, and he says he won't be on apterous for a long time and asked me to advance T-Cap. This made me feel really shitty, because it was due to me giving Zarte a stupidly long extension that Joe was unable to play his game. I offered him a similar amount of time to what I gave Z, as much as I really want to get 2020 going (as do many others, I gather), but he said no and to advance his opponent. He will obviously be an automatic Master in the next Masters he plays (as will Zarte, but no more ridiculous extensions!) but I still feel this is not much of a consolation for forfeiting a place in the grand final (I might try and sort something more for him in future but we'll burn that bridge when we get to it). Joe was understanding and absolutely lovely about it, but... anyway, here we are.

Thomas Carey I then spoke to Tom and Jack (as well as about 6 other friendly apterites, you know who you are, thanks guys). The options were basically hand the title to Jack or advance Tom. Tom basically said either he loses twice and still wins the series like he did on Only Connect, or he makes Jack work for his crown, and a general consulation of some of you said you still wanted a showpiece final, so here it is.

This season comes with about seven asterisks, but it's still a Masters title up for grabs, which will be played very soon. Directly after this, 2020 sign ups will go up - I've already asked all the invitees and heard back from everyone - and I am determined to make 2020 the best recent masters tournament there's been - I'll give extensions of a few days if people need, but I definitely won't be taking the piss. That said - thanks everyone who played 2019, and thanks in advance for everyone who signs up to 2020 :)

Tourney round: Apterous Masters 2019: FINAL

<< Semi finals

Notes from the organizer: RIGHT let's continue this. z basically told me to advance jack so that's what we're döing. it has been an interesting year but you know all that and it's still the masters, can joe take his 1st title or will jack get his *checks* fourth? best of 13 bc z put in a dumb format change which will be reversed upon the next masters. which bring s me nicely to my next point.

THE 2020 MASTERS. i'll start dming the automatic invites pretty much now (probably done by the time this is posted) and then i'll open sign ups to basically as soon as this is done. we probably won't finish in 2020, but the round time will be strict so no silly hiatuses that plagued this one. then 2021 will kick off close to the time it would be meant to. much love everyone <3
