Charlie Reams Rough and meaty.

Andy SC

Andy SC Is this tournament actually ever going to resume?

Thomas Carey

Thomas Carey yes

Thomas Carey

Thomas Carey Ok so since I've had a bunch of people asking -

Zarte is doing better. I've been telling to him and his game with Jack will probably be played soonish.

As soon as that is done, the winner will play Joseph and I'll start doing applications for 2020. Personally this will start in September.

I know I've been very lenient with extending a fixture, but I think it's fairest, everything considered. Be kind.

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre I've gone backwards, so if you want to advance Jack, you can. I've no desire to hold it up, it's your call.

Fiona T

Fiona T Sorry to hear that Zarte - really hoping you feel better soon x

Philip Aston Obviously these hold ups are frustrating but, as I said before in another tournament that got held up and had players "retiring", I think the problem with these tournaments is that most former Countdown contestants lose interest in playing once they've had their run on the show to a point where they can't be allowed to return. They have other fish to fry. I know for a fact Zarte doesn't want to play, after 7 years of practice he's a Grand Slam winner. What else is there to prove? Mental health protection is important too, and sometimes you just have to let sleeping dogs lie.

Once an entrant loses interest, it's enough to throw a tournament into suspended animation to a point where it's not really worthy of credibility. That's the problem.

Fiona T

Fiona T Not sure that generalisations are helpful here Philip.

Philip Aston

Philip Aston I'm not trying to generalise, Fiona; I'm sorry for acting this way, I'm just trying to help.

Ronan M Higginson

Ronan M Higginson Seconded, take care of yourself Zarte!

Philip Aston

Philip Aston With regret I shouldn’t have made my first comment but too late to delete it now.

Look after yourself, Zarte. We will win this together. <3
