Dave Robjohns Righto, event 1 is good to go! A draw took place this evening to put everyone into teams for the Basketball event. To add a bit of fun, Iโ€™ve randomly assigned countries to these, from the top 12 in the 2016 medals table.

This is purely a bit of fun, 95% of the medals are awarded for individual events, so support your team mates, and be considerate. Itโ€™s all a bit of fun ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thereโ€™s a slight hitch with the country thing... countries having 3 people doesnโ€™t lend itself too well to the two other team events where we have teams of 2 and 4.

As a result, before the start of the next one (event 40), I will be disbanding the bottom three teams in the medal table, and those 9+ players will be assigned to other teams. It wonโ€™t really make any difference to you or your games, just a little side interest - so thereโ€™s your motivation - play well, or you country gets disbanded ๐Ÿ˜‚

Germany have also sealed a semi final place, so China vs Germany is set up as the first semi. Hungary are close, but Italy have 12 cons left to play and can still catch them!

Unfortunately Zackโ€™s not played for a while, so final only ended 3-1 to Netherlands. Bronze game played in full, 6-3 Germany.

Congrats to our two best basketball players this time around, with Bradley winning 18/20 games and Hazel winning 12/13.

Notes from the organizer: We kick off the Aptolympic games with a brand new event set to make it's Olympic debut in the games (whenever that is :( ), 3 vs 3 Basketball.

The real event is fast paced, with each team getting a chance to score alternately under a shot clock. Thus taking each other on in single conundrums seemed a good fit.

Here, you'll be randomly assigned into teams of 3, and play against each member of a different team in a single conundrum (so effectively each team match is best of 9). There will be a group stage followed by semi finals & final to determine our medallists!

The top three teams will be awarded bronze, silver & gold medals, one per player.

If the number of entrants isn't divisible by 3, up to 2 (weak) bots will be added. Bots will be unable to win medals, these instead going their team mate with the highest number of wins.

I'll be drawing the teams on the evening of Saturday 20th June on aptochat.
