Dave Robjohns Was tempted to make the final's format the whole tourney, but I think allowing unlimited attempts is both easier for players and easier organisationally for me :P

It will however almost certainly feature in the Olympics thing I'm planning, as it's effecitvely similar to the bar in high jump/pole vault!

Dave Robjohns Other thing I forgot to mention: Spoilage will not be making an appearance at all, Duckdown LA also definitely won’t.

Dave Robjohns Incase people miss this as they clicked on it yesterday while it was awaiting approval, the tourney is now approved and open for signups :)

Dave Robjohns Still intending to start this tomorrow (will send aptomail to all entered) but nobody misses anything if they sign up by ~21st, so drop me a message if you miss this deadline tonight and still want to enter.

Tourney round: Bot Ladders: Sign-ups

Round 1: Aegilops Letters >>

Notes from the organizer: Bot Ladders will feature 10 challenge rounds followed by a final, each round with 2 weeks allotted to complete them.

The first 9 challenges will be 3 each of LAs, NAs and CAs of various variants, with one each supposedly 'easy', 'medium' and 'hard'. The 10th challenge will be a 15 round game in a foreign language of your choice.

Your objective in each 2 week window is to submit your best attempt at each level to me via aptomail with points being awarded as follows:

0 - No attempt
1 - Beat Prune
2 - Beat Nude
3 - Beat Waldorf
4 - Beat Plum
5 - Beat Caesar
6 - Beat Velvet
7 - Beat Prime
3 bonus points will be available each round too, meaning the maximum points you can earn per round is 10. For example, these could be playing the variant with <10s per round, gaining a pencil, scoring in every round etc, varied to suit the format. You can have as many attempts as you like, just submitting your best attempt at the end.

After 10 rounds, all players within 20 points of the lead qualify for the final. This round will be Berserk 9 and worth 20 points, but there's a catch! Here you will only get one attempt at defeating each bot. Lose to Waldorf, and you'll be stopped there (games in final will be done through the tourney system). Rumours are Soap and Rexy will be making an appearance in the final too.

The rounds are yet to be decided (bot strength testing is ongoing) but we will be kicking off on Monday 8th June with an Aegilops LA (the 'easy' letters level). You'll have until Sunday 21st to send me your best efforts, with the first numbers round opening on Monday 15th. We should be done by early September.

The tourney will be a good test of tenacity as well as skill! So, how many bots can you beat?!
