Bradley Horrocks

Bradley Horrocks Reading this back, I should note that Matthew of course has no obligation to defend his title!

M S R

M S R I'm gonna try. It'd be easier for me to find a golden goose that shits Haribo than to beat Caesar at Lockdown, but I'll try :P

Elizabeth Beer

Elizabeth Beer Couldn't Matthew be given a bit of leeway here, seeing as he would be against the bot above (the bot he played last time) anyway? And for the sake of a couple of rating points... (mind you, be careful what you wish for, as Plum likes his 6 small...)

Elizabeth Beer That'll be a no then! I did try Matthew #PrayForMatthew

M S R

M S R Am braced! I'll leave it up to Bradley, I don't mind either way. Caesar is better word-wise, but I'm shit at 6S as it is. In Lockdown, I wouldn't have a hope. Plum or Caesar, I'll be more likely to sit my A-Levels this year than win again :P

Elizabeth Beer

Elizabeth Beer You did so well last time, so fingers crossed - and well done for going up a bracket anyway!

Bradley Horrocks

Bradley Horrocks I'm considering measures to make this fairer to everyone - so watch this space!

Bradley Horrocks Announcement: I was warned by a veteran of the site that the bot's abilities outside of the normal variant weren't too accurate. I have taken smaller than ideal samples of the bots, but have concluded that there still seems to an increase in performance as the bots go up, which is good. However, for this tourney, I have decided to knock all of your bots down by 1. (e.g. if you were due to face Prime, you'll now face Velvet). I'll try to get all the new assignments up at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vX13SgaGnUVIS84PkzDqn_rptLUr1sQx_0bLFtFFjgA/edit#gid=1979713927 in the next 24 hours.

Hopefully this will mean more enjoyment for you all.

Tourney round: Beat Your Bot II (Lockdown Edition): Sign-up page

Round 1 - Lockdown 9 >>

Notes from the organizer: While being stuck in the house may be driving many mad, it does allow for more Apterous, and I'm exploiting the situation to inspire the second edition of Beat Your Bot!

Last time out, champ Matthew S Rutherford defeated Waldorf in all 6 formats. His bot will be upgraded one from what it would have otherwise been, which (very) unfortunately means MSR must tackle Caesar.

The overall concept is much like the last edition (see https://www.apterous.org/to_tourney.php?tourney=2564); I’ll take your normal rolling rating as it was when the clocks went forward on 29th March. You’ll then be assigned the first bot (excluding Nude) to have a higher rolling rating than you. Your aim then will be to beat this bot in 6 different rounds. There will be some key changes:

1. All 6 formats this time will be added every few days and played with Lockdown rules - (see https://www.apterous.org/variant.php?variant=2048 if you're unsure on these)
2. This time, you will get up to 3 tries in all rounds. 10 points for succeeding on attempt 1, 7 points for attempt 2 and 5 points for attempt 3. (Note: for those rated above 2200, Rex will be used in 3 rounds on attempt 1 only)
3. There are no wildcards this time, 3 attempts only! There will be a bonus feature at the end for a chance to claim an extra 5 points.

Sign-ups are open for 4 weeks, though Round 1 begins on 6th April. We will have our winner confirmed by 3rd May.

More details will appear here shortly: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vX13SgaGnUVIS84PkzDqn_rptLUr1sQx_0bLFtFFjgA/edit?usp=sharing. I've probably forgot something in all this. Good luck!
