Notes from the organizer: The Apterous Seniors Championship is open to all players aged 40 or above as of 31st December 2018, therefore this year we are welcoming those born in 1978.
Quarter-Finals onwards will remain a straight knockout with matches being Best of 5. However, the Quarter-Finalists will be determined by a group stage in which each competitor will play each other in two separate 15 round games.
Due to the format change this tournament will not be seeded. Each group will likely consist of 6-8 players from which 2 will advance.
Depending on the number of entries around 6 weeks will be allowed for the group stages to be completed. Subsequent rounds will be allowed 2 weeks.
As usual, players who are either unwilling or unable to confirm their identity and/or birthdate (if required) will not be accepted for this tournament. This caveat is included to protect the integrity of the competition and will not be (and has not been) required in most cases.
Entries will close on Sunday 20th January 2019 with the group stage draw taking place in the early hours of Monday 21st.
