Andy SC Well this is a statement that I feel must be made, so here it is. There is more than enough time to complete tournament games, so in all truth there is no real rush to play tournament games but I still actively encourage people to play their tournament games and try and arrange times to play your tournament games and ideally get your games done as soon as possible. It is OK to politely refuse to play a tournament if you do not feel up to it or wish to perhaps play it at another time. However, if you politely refused to play a tournament game against somebody then proceed to play games against bots etc may regarded as disrespectful by something people as this would say you are willing and available to play tournament games and get them out of the way to a certain extent, which is perfectly reasonable to think....
Andy SC [Continued] However, others may not regard this as disrespectful and feel that they can politely refuse to play tournament games and play who or what they want, which is also perfectly reasonable to think as well. So really we just have to accept what people do with regards to the tournament and playing of their tournament. We also need to be polite to one and another and respect one and another on the decision they make with regards to this tournament. Some people may not realise the amount of effort that goes into organising a tournament of this scale and the tough nature that goes along with talking about the issues mentioned above. In all truth it boils doing the following – RESPECT, COMMITMENT, ENJOYMENT, so lets all bare those three words in mind and make Apterous a friendly and fun environment.

Ian Birdman Andy SC...you, sir, are a legend.
Andy SC Thank you, Ian. | |
Mark Murray Well said Andy
Andy SC Thank you, Mark.
Robin M Can't have said this any better myself but RESPECT, COMMITMENT, ENJOYMENT, can't sum that up any better.
Andy SC Here is the link to the tournament standings to save you all from having to crawl back through the comments -https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HFsbgQKKi96AK9c6IFOc1B108qaiQr1LUsxoVPwbEBY/edit#gid=609418440
Andy SC Well on the most recent tournament table update it has showed our first qualifier for the last 32. Congratulations go to Johnny Canuck on becoming the first qualifier for the Last 32.
Andy SC Once you qualify for the last 32 don't let this stop you from completing your tournament games as I would encourage you to try and get them done.
Andy SC Well the tournament table now seems to show that Johnny has not qualified as it stands. Sorry for this.
Johnny Canuck If there are 60 games per person, how is it possible for anyone with more than 30 wins to not qualify?
Spike Nard Do I stand a chance of qualification as it stands, Andy?
Bradley Horrocks top 32 qualify - if they were all to win all 29 games against non-top 32 then you could end up needing 40+ wins to qualify
Bradley Horrocks That said, I'm pretty sure it's impossible* for someone with 45 wins to not qualify.
Matthew Tassier In theory** under this format someone could win 58 out of 60 games and get knocked out on points difference. Unless my logic fails me.
Anthony Endsor I've just done a rough calculation and worked out mathematically there are only about 21 players at most who could catch Johnny.
Andy SC Just the way what Tim has created works it out.
Andy SC Hopefully it will tell me correctly when somebody actually does qualify for the last 32.
Stephen Holford So I take it that 5 and half wins or so isn't going to get me in the finals, well at least I can book my summer holiday now
Andy SC So long as you enjoy the tournament that is all that matters.
Dan Byrom https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HFsbgQKKi96AK9c6IFOc1B108qaiQr1LUsxoVPwbEBY/edit#gid=612446279
Stephen Holford I think I've played nearly all my games ignoring the couple of people that don't seem to have played at all. It's been great fun, hopefully I can get a few friendly games from time to time with some of the great players on here
Stephen Holford Just think of it like playing Prune except that he gets a go as well :-)
Anthony Endsor Well here's where I sit right now. I have 8 games still to play. Having been rudely ignored by a couple of players previously I have decided I can't be bothered chasing anymore. If anyone is on when I am we can play, otherwise I guess they'll just fizzle out and then as usual we'll get the games left to rot on challenges for evermore.
Andy SC What I did if i was ignored by somebody is send them some private chat requests to grab their attention. You might wish to try that.
Ben Andrews I'm going to come online 2-3 times a day for the next week or so and I'll be available to complete all the games with anyone that's online - if anyone wants to arrange a time then mail me. Sorry for the mail I've missed in the past but I think I've completed my games with all those people.

Andy SC Next Friday will be the last day you have to complete round robin games. Any games not completed by that time will simply not count towards the round robin stage table. So please try and get your games completed before then. The draw for the knockout stages will take place right after midnight. Tournament standings can be viewed at the following link - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HFsbgQKKi96AK9c6IFOc1B108qaiQr1LUsxoVPwbEBY/edit#gid=609418440
Matthew Tassier How does the draw for the round robin stage work?
Andy SC Top 32 progress to the knockout stages where the top 16 are in one pot and positions 17-32 are in another. One player will then be drawn to play somebody else from another in the knockout stage. Normally it would be that seed 1 would play seed 16 in the second knockout round and so on , on the assumption that the higher seed will keep winning. Instead I will be doing the draw for Last 16, Quarter Final and Semi Final right after the first round draw and it will work the same as the first round draw, on the assumption that the higher seeded player will win because I feel this will make it more tense and tougher for people to progress.
Andy SC Today is he last day to get games your round robin games completed and make an important push for qualification.
Andy SC DEADLINE HAS PASSED |
Notes from the organizer: Hello everyone and welcome to Everything Counts V.
Firstly here is a reminder of the previous champions of Everything Counts and what you have to look up to:
I – Callum Todd
II – Callum Todd
III – Zarte Siempre
IV – Elliott Mellor
Now time for the rules of the Round Robin stage of this tournament:
1. Games will be played to the Standard 9-round format
2. Players will have 59 games to play
3. 4 Points for a win
4. 2 Points for a draw
5. 1 Bonus Point for scoring 70+ Points
6. 1 Bonus Point for losing by 10 Points or less
If I feel that players are not making much of an effort to play there tournament games I will politely warn them about it via Aptomail and if there is no improvement after a period of time, I might then start sanctioning players for making minimal effort. So this is your warning right now to at least try to get all of your games played before the deadline. Also if you feel a player is being an annoyance to the tournament or a hindrance to getting your games played then please tell me via Aptomail and again I will politely warn them about this. I encourage you all to make a great deal of effort in trying to get your tournament games played.
Once the Round Robin stage is complete, the top 32 will advance through to the knockout stages of the tournament.
The deadline for completing your Round Robin matches is up to and including the 13th July 2018 but the sooner you can get all your games done the better.
Also on a side note I was considering doing something exciting once this tournament is complete – An Everything Counts Champions of Champions. The criteria for inviting people to Everything Counts COC will be Winners, Runners Up and Semi Finalists of previous editions that are still reasonably active on Apterous and people that have committed well to Everything Counts over all the editions, as well as the higher rated players in the pro ranks that do not meet any of the previous criteria. 16-players will be invited based on the previous criteria. So feel free to leave comments or thoughts on this idea.
I’m sure this tournament will be a great one, with many closely contested matches and surprises along the way. May the best player win.
Kind regards,
Andy SC
