![]() | Callum Todd Are we to start playing our games now and you'll add them, or do we wait for fixtures to be added officially? |
![]() | Andy Platt As soon as the bit that says 'Awaiting approval' in italics changes to 'Approved' in bold I can add the fixtures myself.
|
![]() | Andy Platt Fixtures are up. Good luck guys! |
![]() | Andy Platt James Bailes is the first competitor through to the quarter finals! 92-80 after handicap. |
![]() | Andy Platt Ian is the second through, 101-100 after handicap against Jon. Who's next?! |

![]() | Andy Platt Keep an eye on that round deadline guys. |
![]() | Andy Platt I think I've majorly fucked up a lot of the handicaps for the knockout round. Stay tuned |
![]() | Andy Platt Changes from the above link:
|
![]() | Andy Platt Bearing in mind the fact that Callum maxed a game but still left the tournament, do we think there is scope for a "max rule" that puts you through automatically or something (for the next handicap tournament)? |
![]() | Callum Todd I don't think so. I feel the handicap was fair, and Marcus deserves to go through based on his performance. |
![]() | Marcus Hares I think implementing a handicap on Callum would be good for all future tourneys ;) Seriously though, I feel pretty bad that Callum left the tournament after this - didn't deserve to, but it was a good game |
![]() | Callum Todd It was a very good game, I think both of us deserve to go through, but we were both aware of the system, which I think is fair and well calculated, and that decides it. |
![]() | Ian Volante Hmm, Jon won fairly, don't see the need for a replay. |
![]() | Jon Stitcher It was me who suggested the replay because I felt that had you known you were behind going into the conundrum you'd have probably looked harder at it. I know I relax a bit more on tough conundrums like that when I'm ahead.

![]() | Ian Volante I'm happy not to replay - I'm pretty sure I'd not have played it differently! |
![]() | Andy Platt OK cool thanks Ian. |
![]() | Sean D Last 16 done. Thanks to Peter for making the time to play when on the other side of the world |
![]() | Andy Platt Nice one guys, will get straight on it. |
![]() | Andy Platt Been working on a formula that takes maxes per game into consideration because at the moment there's realistically only going to be one winner, which is no good for a competitive tournament really. |
Notes from the organizer: You know the drill.
- Handicap formula is still (R(H) - R(L) - 50)/20 but handicaps are now capped at 60.
- If the difference between ratings is under 50 then there is no handicap.
- In the case of a tie on handicap, then the lower rated player will advance. If there was no handicap to begin with and it's a tie, just play the tie-break conundrum as standard.
