Matt Hamer Yes, I remember it being active back in 2010 or 2011; someone getting XYLOPHONE was near the top. I imagine this page is "on holiday" more or less indefinitely because it's so computationally-intensive to maintain.

Matt Hamer It's a list of the most improbable spotted nines. As far as I recall, improbability is measured as a function of the apterous Letters distribution, rather than the obscurity of the word in the English language.
