Octolock is a variant that locks players into using the selection in certain ways (like Lockdown) while also using slightly shorter selections (like Octorock).
Letters round: The selection contains 8 letters. The first and last letters selected, highlighted in red, must appear in the word declared. If both highlighted letters are the same, that letter must appear twice.
Numbers round: The target is between 100 and 999. The available large numbers are 20, 30, 40, and 50, and the small numbers are 1 to 9 (twice each). The first number selected, highlighted in red, must be used in the solution. (Note that the solution is still valid even if the red number leads to a "dead end"; for example, if 2 were the red number and 100 the target, 6-2=4, 10x10 = 100 would be a valid solution.)
Conundrum: Nine letters are shown, from which there is exactly one eight-letter word available. This word is the answer.
