Notes from the organizer: Welcome to Revolver, an on-going set of Apterous challenges for you to try as much as you like. I set a challenge once every five days, and each one runs for 20 days so four challenges run at any time. This one is letters-based, and the challenges rotate through letters, numbers, conundrums and a mix of all three.

You can play whichever challenges you like, as much as you like; all you need to do is sign up to one on its round page (signing up is optional but it's helpful as feedback if nothing else) and get started on it. Every challenge has an objective you need to complete, with extra points available depending on how you do it. These points then get converted into final scores as follows:

1st place: 100 points
2nd place: 80 points
3rd place: 70 points
All others: scaled between 20 and 60 points
In the event of ties points get split equally, so if two people tie for second they get 75 each.

The tournament has an overall leaderboard https://sites.google.com/site/apterousrevolver/leaderboard which is the total of all these final scores you've achieved.

So, here's the latest one, numbered L3 because it's letters challenge 3. It's a day late, sorry about that. (I've put the wrong start date in as not to confuse myself with the next challenge's dates)

Name: METAMAX

Objective: Metamax at least 10 rounds of a Goatdown, Goatdown Jr. or Hypergoat Letters Attack. This is making or being given the best pick, and then getting the max, just in case you don't play Goat variants.

Variant/format: See above. English only please, so no CSW or foreign language. I will also allow custom games (if setting one up please note that Goatdown Jr. is Gevin scored) where YOU PICK MORE THAN HALF of the rounds since picking the right letter affects something else in the scoring...

Scoring: Whatever your actual score is, PLUS three points per metamaxed round, PLUS a bonus five points per letter of the longest word you can make out of all the final letters of rounds where you got the metamax. For example this game http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=1187769 has ten metamaxed rounds, with final letters TESLNAPELN. The max from that is 8 (enplanes or plasteel), so that would be 40 more points. Please don't check anything mid-game for that, but by all means use Lexplorer after the game to see what the max from those letters is so you know what you scored.

If you complete the challenge and want me to know about it, COMMENT ON THIS PAGE with a link to your game. If you better it, comment again and that will replace your previous game. After every few completions I'll put up a table of who's scored what.
