Richard Freeland I think this works:

Callum Todd

Callum Todd So close to maxing it D:

http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=1269884 - 190+18 for 208, I think.

Jamie M

Jamie M That's fine Richard, and you get a bonus of 8 for it. Unlucky Callum, that would've been the first unbeatable score of Revolver so far. 18 bonus though, you're right.

Callum Todd 208
Richard Freeland 131

Callum Todd

Callum Todd I think it wouldn't technically be unbeatable, as it would be theoretically possible to score higher if you had a letters round with a nine. But practically it would have been very difficult to beat.

Jamie M

Jamie M ...good point, completely forgot about that. I reckon anyone getting a max 200 by playing alternating rounds will win though, it might happen.

Callum Todd

Callum Todd Yep, I'll keep having a few tries every now and then but I can't see myself beating that score, was pleased to get that much. I'm sure there are others who could do it though.

Thanks for playing everyone, the overall leaderboard (plus the one for challenge set 2 https://sites.google.com/site/apterousrevolver/challenge-list/set2) will be updated some time today. The new challenge is "M3 - Hyper", enjoy :)

Tourney round: Revolver: Challenge M2 - Dogfight

<< Challenge C2 - Blanks | Challenge L3 - Metamax >>

Notes from the organizer: Welcome to Revolver, an on-going set of Apterous challenges for you to try as much as you like. I set a challenge once every five days, and that each one runs for 20 days so four challenges run at any time. This one is mixed-round, and the challenges rotate through letters, numbers, conundrums and a mix of all three.

You can play whichever challenges you like; all you need to do is sign up to one on its round page and get started on it. Every challenge has an objective you need to complete, with extra points available depending on how you do it. These points then get converted into final scores as follows:

1st place: 100 points
2nd place: 80 points
3rd place: 70 points
All others: scaled between 20 and 60 points

The tournament has an overall leaderboard https://sites.google.com/site/apterousrevolver/leaderboard which is the total of all these final scores you've achieved.

So, here's the latest one, numbered M2 because it's mixed-round challenge 2.

Name: DOGFIGHT
Objective: Score at least 120 points in a 20-round Dogfight game.
Variant/format: Any 20-round Dogfight game where the time is set to 45 seconds - it'll start at 45 seconds for the first round then get quicker. If you're setting up a custom game you can choose to pick in whichever rounds you want.
Scoring: Whatever your actual score is, plus a bonus point if you get a max in a different type of round to the previous one. So if you have a letters round and then max a numbers round straight after it then that's an extra point. This is to reward playing different rounds, especially towards the end of the game.

If you complete the challenge and want me to know about it, COMMENT ON THIS PAGE with a link to your game. If you better it, comment again and that will replace your previous game. After every few completions I'll put up a table of who's scored what.

Hopefully that's all clear, but if not let me know. Good luck everyone!

Ran from: 21 April – 10 May 2014. Format: Dogfight Letters Attack. Matches: One-off. Approved.

Organizers: Jamie M.

Fixtures: 6. Completed: 6.
