Notes from the organizer: Welcome to the 2026 edition of Advent Calendar!
Over the course of 24-days (1st - 24th December) players are led on a journey playing games in various formats against Apterous Prune that have been selected by their fellow players. The 24th December will have a bonus round titled ‘Secret Santa’, more about this below.
Scoring for the tournament standings will work the same way as the Daily Duel does. For example; If 50-players sign-up, the winner of any round will be awarded 50-points, 2nd awarded 49-points and so on. Anybody that achieves a max game at any point will be awarded 5 bonus points. Anybody that achieves a pencil at any point will be awarded 3 bonus points. Each round (excluding the Secret Santa round) will have hidden bonus points attached to them that will only be revealed once the round is complete.
Players can select any format from the high scores page - https://www.apterous.org/statland.php?section=highscores - Each round will be randomly selected from one of the players choices. It’s very likely that all selected formats will not appear in the tournament (assuming more than 24-players sign-up).
JOKER ROUND
As usual, players will pick a round from 1-24 to apply their Joker Card to. This will double the points total for that round (not including bonus points).
SECRET SANTA
New to this edition, the Secret Santa round will be a Letters Attack against Apterous Prune. The catch for this is that players will come up with their own scoring system for the game that will then be gifted to another player. The scoring system that players have been gifted will be sent to them on the 23rd December but you won’t be told who gifted it to you until after the round is complete. You also won’t be told what others have been gifted.
The scoring system could be anything creative that a player can come up with or it could be kept simple. For example: All words having to start and end in a vowel.
