![]() | Ian Milller I like the elimination tournament being the berserk one, because that’s by far the format that I have the least FOMO about. |
Notes from the organizer: We move onto the final individual tournament of the season and the last chance for any of our borderline players to secure their spot on the Ryder Cup.
In this slightly updated tournament, we’ll be looking to borrow aspects of the real-life FedEx Cup playoffs. The tournament is played across three rounds - The FedEx St. Jude Championship, BMW Championship and finally the Tour Championship with the field reducing at the end of each round.
We will start with 36 participants, at the end of the St Judes we will lose the people in position 25-36 (12 players), then at the end of the BMW we’ll lose the people in positions 13-24 (the next bottom 12 players) leaving us with just 12 players competing in the final Tour Championship round.
To be clear, the positions I'm referencing above are the ones in this tournament only, not the overall world rankings (which differs slightly from real life).
The FedEx Cup focuses on speed and letters. Here are the formats.
R1 - Speed Letters Attack
R2 - Bullet Letters Attack
R3 - Berserk Letters Attack
There are no pressure holes at all in this tournament, and scoring for each round will be the same:
9 - eagle
8 - birdie
7 - par
6 - bogey
5 - double bogey
4 or worse - triple bogey
This page acts as the St Jude’s tournament, and remember, R19 and 20 don’t count.
