Tourney round: APGA Tour 2026: Sign-Ups

Notes from the organizer: Welcome to another season of Apterous Golf. For any rookies, this is a golf themed tournament that loosely mirrors the real world golf calendar from March - September with a series of tournaments played alongside the main tournaments in golf.

For the experienced - in an effort to make this tour more fun (and sustainable for me doing the admin), there are going to be some changes for this season.

Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed have spoken, and the writing seems to be on the wall for LIV Golf, so I shall be following that trend and switching back to focus on the PGA (cue Andy SC setting up his own rival tour!)

What does that mean?

Well, it’s goodbye to the team element, which had a fairly thorny first season anyway for varying reasons.

It also means fewer tournaments focussing only on a select number of prestige events.

MARCH - The Player’s Championship (Sawgrass)
APRIL - The Masters (Augusta)
MAY - The PGA Championship (Aronimink)
JUNE - The US Open (Shinnecock Hills)
JULY - The Open (Royal Birkdale)
AUGUST - The Tour Championship (East Lake)
SEPTEMBER - Ryder Cup (Le Fictionale National)

So, one tournament a month for seven months.

However, this isn’t simply to reduce the scoring admin on my part. It’ll allow me to give some thought into some new gameplay and scoring rules to add variation and more enjoyment.

I think The Ryder Cup went down well last year, so the plan will be to repeat that again this year despite it being an off-year in real life. I’ll put some thought into how I combat the issue surrounding the player playing their game second having an advantage (maybe we switch the HvH games but with longer deadlines).

In summary - back for another season - but focussing less on absolute mirroring the real golf season and more on making it a fun tournament / tour on Apterous, which is ultimately what matters most.

Everyone welcome as always (and any thoughts, suggestions, feedback always welcome too via Aptomail).

Cheers,

Dave
