![]() | Eoin Jackson Yay! It's back.
|
![]() | Chris Butler Just as my membership is about to expire this comes about, compelling me to reach deep into my pockets. Happens every year :) |
![]() | Adam Nicholas Jones This looks good. Having had a glance at previous tournaments, some of the formats look very scary but (as a numbers lover) I have to give it a go. |
![]() | Eoin Jackson People need to get their act together! We only have 62 sign-ups. WE NEED MORE.
|
![]() | Matthew Tassier Enjoy the adventure, Adam!
|
![]() | Eoin Jackson 4th doesn't even make the Podium, Matthew... We need MORE! |
![]() | Chris Butler With a couple of weeks of sign ups remaining, I'm sure this will make the podium |
![]() | Chris Butler Actually 62 (now 66) is the 5th highest number of entrants. The participation increased (or stayed the same, from 2016 until 2021, and has slowly declined since, but it looks this year will buck the trend :)
|
![]() | Eoin Jackson 2021 was the year I went on a ballistic promo trail all over the internet for WLN. Glad the efforts gave it the gold medal, and that it still retains it. |
![]() | Matthew Tassier Ah yes, my miscount. Looking good for 2nd highest this year! |
![]() | Jon Stammers Wow, that's a lot of entrants, will it even be over by Christmas? Maybe it doesn't bode well for my chances if I can't even be bothered to count... :) |
![]() | Matthew Tassier Yep, as there's a fixed number of rounds it should remain on schedule to complete by mid-December. |
![]() | Jon Stammers Ah yes, multiple players being knocked out each round, sorry, can't be bothered to either count OR read the sign-up page properly! |
![]() | Eoin Jackson 77's a good number in fairness... |
![]() | Chris Butler We're not going to beat the record with that attitude Eoin! ;) |
![]() | Gevin Chapwell I think starting tickets for tournaments is a good idea. Does everyone notice the stuff at the top of the screen? |
![]() | Tal Lessner 77 signed up, but r1 features only 76 (including the last to sign up). |

![]() | Eoin Jackson Tal, it's about to be ruined though. 😥 There is someone "pending".
|
![]() | Tal Lessner Eoin, I meant that Tass may have unintentionally skipped a player when setting up the tourney. |
![]() | Mike Lee Tal, the player that is missed is a trial player who has never played a game but signed up for the tourney. |
![]() | Tal Lessner Right, thought they were simply not accepted. |
![]() | Matthew Tassier Yes, I'm waiting to see if the trial player responds, but probably we are on 77 at the moment. |

Can Tal defend his title? Will 2025 see one of our previous winners return to conquer again? Is it time for another new champion? By the end of this year we will find out!
Starting with the easier variants this tournament will be a journey through 24 apterous numbers formats with the lowest scorer(s) being eliminated each round.
One bot will be randomly chosen for each round and all players will play a numbers attack in that round's variant against that bot.
The lowest scoring player (or more likely two, three or four players depending on how many entrants we get) will be knocked out each round. If there is a tie for lowest score then the tiebreaks will be:
1) Performance against opponent this round(i.e. margin of victory/loss over 20 rounds).
2) Total player score over all tournament rounds so far.
With the first round beginning on September 8th, there should be a new round every Monday and Friday for about 3 months making for a more relaxed pace than other Weakest Link tournaments. Rounds will be overlapping with a two week time limit giving some flexibility in case of holidays etc. If you are going to be away from apterous for more than a week then aptomail me and you will be able to play round(s) early if necessary.
NOTE : Games should be played in a single sitting (barring unforeseen problems), after all there's no passing and coming back later in The Weakest Link. Any penalties for anyone repeatedly failing to do this will be at the organiser's discretion.
Whether you have designs on winning the tournament, or you're just challenging yourself to get through the first few rounds, please don't hesitate to throw your hat into the ring.
Sign-ups will remain open until the end of the first week of the first round.
Let's be having you!
