Martin Hurst

Martin Hurst Wtf

Richard Decker

Richard Decker As a Eurovision super fan who was offered tickets to all the live shows in Basel, this excites me way too much

Marcus Hares

Marcus Hares I've read and re-read this several times and I still don't really understand what or who the participants are voting for - the actual songs at Eurovision?

Mark Jeary-Fairbairn

Mark Jeary-Fairbairn You are going to Basel Richard????

Ross K

Ross K just the most confusing thing ive ever read

Richard Decker

Richard Decker Mark I'm not sadly - I turned them down as the whole trip would have cost me far too much. Instead I'm off with a bunch of fellow Eurofans to a hotel in Torquay for a week

Anthony Endsor

Anthony Endsor Nil Comprendez.

Elwin Carlos

Elwin Carlos Sounds like we're being asked to rank the countries either arbitrarily or just according to one's own whimsy ... we'll all be randomly assigned a country to represent, and the winner will be chosen by sheer dumb luck!

Jon Stammers

Jon Stammers So no actual countdown involved at all then? ...in any way?
at all?

Mark Jeary-Fairbairn

Mark Jeary-Fairbairn Would you mind clarifying Andy?

Jon Stammers

Jon Stammers To be serious, Mark, he made it clear enough. No. Countdown. At. All. In any way. Not even a bit.

Dave Kempshall

Dave Kempshall Rhys is also taking sign-ups for a Eurovision Song Contest tournament that includes playing Apterous / Countdown. Andy's is a voting based one that doesn't step on those toes. I'm personally intrigued and have entered both.

Damian McEvoy

Damian McEvoy I was in Basel for it, a glorious time was had!

Tourney round: Eurovision Voting Contest: sign-ups

Notes from the organizer: Creating this tournament page on behalf of Andy SC. He'll do all the admin for it.

Welcome to the first Eurovision Voting Contest!!!

A tournament that requires no actual gameplay or any real skill in any way. I hear you asking - How will it work?

The tournament will consist of two Semi Finals and a Final and will have 37 participants. The tournament will be made up of a Televote and a Jury Vote. Here’s how each of them well work.

TELEVOTE
The televote will take place in the Semi Finals and Final. This will consist of the 37 participants ranking each of the participant countries (excluding the one they are representing) in any order that they wish. For the Semi Finals the points for the Televote will be awarded from the participants country depending on what Semi Final they are in or voting in. The points will be awarded as follows: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1.

JURY VOTE
The Jury Vote will only take place in the Final. This will consist of the 37 participants being provided with a list of the names of the 26 finalists but not what country they are voting for. Participants will then award points to the ten participants they want to in the 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 format.

Rest of The World (Me) will also cast a vote in the Semi Finals and Final in the televote but will not be a participant.

All the voting will be done through Aptomail.

Once all the results have been received and collated, the Jury Vote results will be revealed one by one in the Apterous Chat. Once all of the Jury Vote results have been revealed, the Televote points total for each Finalist will then be revealed and the winner of the Eurovision Voting Contest will be crowned.
