Trevor Potts

Trevor Potts Looking forward to this one.

"all the Hyperlock games in Apto-history" may be a stretch but I am currently running a sample of 250 through "one of those new-fangled computermabobs" and early indications is that there is a clear optimum strategy

Elwin Carlos Sorry Chris, I appear to be missing this one from my list of unplayed games

Elwin Carlos

Elwin Carlos Ignore the above, I meant to post that on the page for Game Four

Tourney round: The Twelve Games of Chris-mas: Vol. III: So, Hare it is, Merry Chris-mas: Game Five

<< Game Four | Game Six >>

Notes from the organizer: Game Five! Can I interest you in a pickled walnut?

Your game is a Hyperlock Letters Attack; your aim is to score as highly as possible. To make that slightly more interesting, you'll earn extra points according to the following tariff for each round:

-- If the selection has exactly one locked consonant, you'll score normally;
-- If the selection has exactly two locked consonants, your declaration's score will be multiplied by 1.25;
-- If the selection has exactly three locked consonants, your declaration's score will be multiplied by 1.5;
-- If the selection has no locked consonants, you'll be burned at the stake for witchcraft.

The choice, therefore, is up to you (half of the time; the other half is entirely at Prune's whim). Play safely, play riskily, or hedge your bets and play somewhere in the middle. Is there an optimum strategy? Feel free to feed all the Hyperlock games in Apto-history into one of those new-fangled computermabobs and find out. Maybe the little pop-up paperclip chappy can help.

The BONUS TOURNAMENT POINT for this round will be awarded to any player who declares and scores points with a four-letter word.

If you have any questions about the rules, scoring, or anything else pertaining to this tourney, please feel free to ask.
