Tourney round: Apterous Football League Cup: 2023: Sign-Ups

<< 2022: Grand Final | 2023: Round 1 >>

Notes from the organizer: Welcome to the 7th running of the Apterous Football League Cup, currently not sponsored by Carabao.

Yes, Apterous's least-inspiring football-related tournament is back. For those of you who don't follow the Carabao Cup (other energy drinks are available), it's a very straightforward knockout tournament, where you either win or lose. As per the real-life Carabao Cup, some players will inevitably receive byes in order to make up the correct numbers. These will all be decided on Pro Ranks for Mon 6 Nov, so if you want to potentially take a bye into a future round, get playing. We can have a maximum of 92 entrants, and though I don't anticipate that many, if we do get more than 92 we may have to do some extra qualifying rounds.

The draw follows the format of the actual Carabao Cup, and as per the current rules, there is no longer a seeding system in the early rounds. We won't bother with "North" and "South" because that's not really possible in an online tournament.

This means that semi-finals will be held over two legs. This means that the scores will be added together in each semi final to find a winner.

We have had six runnings of this tournament and we have never had a repeat winner. The current holder of the Carabao Cup (other energy drinks are available) is Tom Cappleman, who beat Hazel Drury on a crucial conundrum in the 2022 final. https://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=3458593
