Elizabeth Beer

Elizabeth Beer For the bonus, it just says that you need to “max” one of each pick. Do you actually mean max by double ducking, or max as Apterous understands it?

Chris Hare

Chris Hare Max as Apterous understands it; whether or not you double-Duck your way there isn't relevant for the bonus.

Dave Kempshall

Dave Kempshall Quick one on this Chris. Is it only exact double-ducking that gains points here? Or do you also score for triple-ducking and better?

Adam Finlay

Adam Finlay I can only assume double ducking is avoiding two numbers rather than one (not a term I've come across before!)

Chris Hare

Chris Hare If you triple-Duck, then you have (by definition) also double-Ducked, so Duck as much as you like. No extra credit for it, though.

Callum Todd

Callum Todd I've just realised that the points would still count if we double-ducked without getting an exact solve. Balls. Double balls, actually.

Bailey Cowell

Bailey Cowell What is double-ducking again? Leaving out 2 numbers?

Chris Hare

Chris Hare Yes.

Tourney round: The Twelve Games of Chris-mas: Game Eight

<< Game Seven | Game Nine >>

Notes from the organizer: In the festive spirit of taking dead birds and stuffing them inside one another, it's time for some double Ducking.

Game Eight is a Duckdown Numbers Attack. Your score for the round will be the sum of the points you achieve in rounds that you solve by ignoring TWO of the numbers in the selection. The player with the highest such score will win. The tie-break criteria will be most double-Ducked maxes* followed by most double-Ducked 1-away, and so forth.

*For clarity: I'm going to consider rounds to be maxed if and only if you max the round according to Apterous; I'm not going to check whether or not the round was possible by double-Ducking. This might mean that rounds are impossible to score in by double-Ducking but not by Ducking, which is just tough luck, ducks.

The BONUS TOURNAMENT POINT will be awarded to any player who successfully maxes at least one of each selection (7S, 1L, 2L, 3L, 4L) during the game.
