Andy SC

Andy SC Just to clarify, does choice have to be a letters attack of some sort of just any format with 20 rounds?

Chris Hare

Chris Hare Any 20-round high-score format, so any Letters Attack (except Beanstalk), Numbers Attack or Conundrum Attack. Some of those are obviously useless if you're trying to score 8, but I'm not going to stop you playing Spoilage Conundrums if you really, really want to.

Chris Hare Clarification: "score eight" means exactly eight in this context.

Stu Harkness

Stu Harkness Have I read this wrong again? I thought you got 1 point for an 8, and 1 point for a max?

Chris Hare

Chris Hare It's "every such round", not "every round".

So, to answer your question: yes.

Stu Harkness

Stu Harkness Ugh! Wouldn't have chosen that format...

Chris Hare The Best Snowman Competition is complete!

Several different strategies looked to have a decent chance of success; in the end it was Hazel's Goat-picking that carried her to victory. Special commendations go to Florence and George for scoring exactly eight points in every round.

Congratulations to our medallists:

GOLD: Hazel Drury (SUI)
SILVER: Florence C-L (KOR)
BRONZE: Cillian McM (KOR)
ALSO BRONZE: Tom Cappleman (NED).

Tourney round: Apterous Winter Olympics 2022: The Best Snowman Competition: Foyer

Unlimited Letters Attack >>

Notes from the organizer: Do you want to build a snowman? Then you’ve come to the right place, if you’ll accept that the numeral 8 looks sufficiently like a vaguely humanoid frozen-water sculpture traditionally adorned with coal and a carrot for the amusement of children.

In this event, you can play any 20-round high-score format you like, but you won’t be rewarded for a high score. Instead, you’ll be awarded one (1) point for every round in which you score eight (8) points, and an extra one (1) bonus point for every such round that the game considers you to have maxed. The player with the most points wins.

Competitors will be sent an aptomail asking them to choose their desired format before the competition begins. If you do not choose a format before the deadline, the Organiser will give you a standard Letters Attack game.

If you've signed up for the Apterous Winter Olympics, you'll automatically be entered into the Best Snowman Competition; if you'd like to participate in the Best Snowman Competition without signing up for any other Apterous Winter Olympic events, please use the button below.
