Notes from the organizer: Climb Every Mountain is a series of 3 knockout numbers tournaments played in Junior, Normal and Hyper formats.
But, there's a twist. If a round is tied then the points will be awarded to the player who has reached the target via the HIGHEST INTERMEDIATE TOTAL.
Some rules clarifications:
For assessing the intermediate totals, dead ends in your calculations will be ignored. That is, there must be a path through your calculations from the intermediate total to your final total.
If both players have reached the same peak in their calculations, or if neither player has gone above the final total, then the round will be tied.
However, if both players have declared the same distance away from the target, one of them above and one below, then the player declaring above the target will win the round if the other player has not reached at least that number on the way to their target.

Note: Be careful with the ordering of your calculations and bear in mind that if you wish to go via the target, to a higher point and then back to the target then this can only be done by putting your calculation in the notes box before the end of the round.
Tournament structure:
Every player will be given a game against Apterous Rex in a seeding round. Rules will be as above, but scoring will be a bit different. If your intermediate peak is higher than Rex's then you will score double points for that round (i.e. 20 if it's an exact solve), but if it is lower than Rex then you will score half points (5 if it's an exact solve). If Rex beats you in a round then you will score 0 as is usually the case.
Players will then be seeded based on their adjusted scores with their highest intermediate peak across the whole game being the decider in case of ties.
The tournament will then proceed as a fully seeded knockout tournament with each fixture being best of 1 game with two weeks to play the game.
