Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns The special Prime bonuses will be up shortly after midnight, after seeing how good/bad Prime is. It'll be easier than yesterday's; prime MUST be ticked off to avoid playing Rex so it'll basically be harder and harder as the bots get easier

The normal 1 pt bonuses:
Letters - Max 2 rounds
Numbers - Pick 4L or 6S and max all 3
Con - fastest
Pencil - 1

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns Le special bonus:
Just letters today - beat Prime in a round (*where he does declare*) and you'll unlock prime for day 24

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns The discovery that there are only 2 numbers rounds means I'll have to make the numbers bonus point a bit harder (yes, scrooge is back!) - needs to be a unique solution now! Any selection is valid

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns Extra christmas bonus:
Everyone has a joker they can use. Using this gives you double points in one of the next 6 rounds (24th is double for everyone). You have until midnight on 17th to let me know which round you would like to double.

The options are: Hyper, Hypergoatdown, Junior, Touchdown, Octolock, Instant

The bots and variants will be randomised for these 6 days as I'm getting lazy :P You select your joker by aptomailing me. Anyone that does not select a joker will use it tomorrow.

Remember - this is not where you'll get the highest score necessarily, but the highest score relative to others!

All of these have decent luck elements, with Junior/Instant/Hypergoat/Hyper doubling points for 7s/9s/12s while Octolock might be troublesome with impossible maths and Touchdown has massive variance in difficulty! Who has the best tactics?

Rhys Benjamin

Rhys Benjamin Happy with getting antidisestablishmentarianism. Not happy with how the rest of it went.

Dave Robjohns Just a reminder that you need to submit your joker plays by midnight (description above)

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns 3 winners today also in a horrid round. Yesterday was a record low for avg maxes at 2.5, today it fell to 1.6 :( Congrats to Damian for managing 3 of the 8 letters maxes we achieved as a group! He and Matthew T (2) earn letters points here, while Tracey was the only one to get a conundrum, and therefore the fastest (7s). It's the third day in 4 we've only had one solver, and it takes her to 10 cons in the tourney, the joint most.

Today's top 5:
127 - Damian
122 - Dave R
117 - Maus
106 - Matthew T
102 - T-Cap

Overall top 5:
386 - Oliver
378 - Dave R
376 - Maus
368 - Bradley
352 - Martin

Congrats to Damian for his first top 5 finish (and a win at that!). Oliver keeps a small lead but remains in striking distance of a few, and with jokers on the way, anything can happen!

Dave Robjohns

Regarding the special bonuses, most people ticked Prime off today but not all - lsit https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HXoq_MCrLX_QUmr-NmVQbOmG9RTZ14DmS4DR7BUpA3I/edit#gid=1243665426

Tourney round: Apto Advent Calendar: Day 17: Duckdown

<< Day 16: Hypertouch | Day 18: Octolock >>

Notes from the organizer: 117 years ago today, the Wright brothers made the first controlled, sustained flight of an aircraft. The first flight was only approximately 8-10 feet in the air, so you might wanna duck!

It's also maple syrup day which will go well with some prime steak so we're playing Prime! Will add a sample game to the tourney page so we get an idea (Prime get long words in spoilage)

Ran from: 17 – 17 December 2020. Format: Duckdown 15. Matches: One-off. Approved.

Organizers: Dave Robjohns.

Fixtures: 28. Completed: 28.
