Given everyone IPL style team names based on real teams to add a little colour, feel free to drop a message if you want to change yours (Edward in particular since there aren't many real teams beginning with A!). Alliteration not required

Dave Robjohns Going to cap this at 18 and make it much more like the t20 blast than the IPL fyi - one space left!

Tourney round: IPL 2020: Signups

Group A >>

Notes from the organizer: Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing an interesting concept combining t20 cricket with two polar opposite variants; Aegilops and Spoilage.

For each fixture, you will have two Aegliops LAs against your opponent. When P1 you will be batting, and when P2 you will be bowling. Your objective as P1 will be to score as many "runs" as possible, basically by playing spoilage and searching for the longest valid word including that selection in that order. Your objective as P2 will be to bowl the other team out, taking a wicket for every round you max in aegilops. There are 20 rounds in the game, so it's a bit like a t20 cricket game.

For those unfamiliar with cricket, a team can only lose 10 wickets before being all out. Therefore if P2 maxes 10 rounds, any rounds after that will not count to the batting score.

An additional change to make the scores a bit more realistic - if the bowling side takes a wicket (maxes a round), the batting side score nothing that round. So tactical selections to avoid easy tnetennbae are encouraged when batting!

In short, when P1, you need to play Aegilops as badly as possible. When P2, you need to play Aegilops as well as possible.

Here is an example game: https://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=2697260 I scored 301-8 batting here, only scoring in the 12 rounds which Prime did not max. This is still a unrealistically large score, but most games will hopefully be reasonably realistic.

The format depends on numbers but will likely mimic the IPL with a group stage followed by knockouts.

Hope this at least sounds intriguing, feel free to fire any questions in the comments!
