Andy SC

Andy SC A few extra points to note: You will have one week to play each game, except from the last round which everybody will play in.

Ian Volante

Ian Volante I can see lots of councils that aren't due an election until 2022 or 2023, ditto many unitary authorities. I'm worried about this inaccuracy!

Andy SC

Andy SC We just decided to ignore that element and just do the full hog.

M S R

M S R @Gary-you'll be playing variants and will need to be a full member in order to access those :)

M S R

M S R The page had to have a format, even though it is just being used for sign-ups.

Give the details a read.

Matty Artell

Matty Artell How many games will each person have, and how often? Can we opt out of being enetered for rounds featuring, for example, unusually hard numbers attacks?

M S R

M S R So once you’re in your teams, each player will be assigned the rounds they play at random, which will all be set up ahead of time, so you can't exactly opt out, but draws will be allowed, so you ere or leave it need be.

Each player will play one game per ‘round’ (all councils in one round go up on the same day), so you’ll each have a fresh game to play every two days. This is around 102 games apiece.

(If you pass me and Andy a tenner each though, we could your little NA problem disappear and possibly get you a crossbench peer position in the Lords) #politics

M S R

M S R @Brad. Welcome to Apterous. You will need to subscribe if you want to play courtesy of us using variants :)

Anthony Endsor

Anthony Endsor I can see this being 9 months of either wasting time aptomailing people, or ending up with yet another million unplayed tourney games. Good luck :)

Andy SC

Andy SC @Anthony - I don't think we intend to aptomail people to chase them up. Probably just one initial aptomail and maybe a few here and there. Not our problem if people don't play their games. :)

Andy SC

Andy SC Sign-ups close on Sunday.

M S R

M S R So the teams are as follows (also in Aptomail)
CONSERVATIVES-Oliver Solamath, Robin M, Eoin Jackson, Sam Shepherd, Stephen Oldham
GREEN-Johnny Canuck, Matty Artell, Edward Ashcroft, MSR, Matt Conway
LABOUR-Alex H, Fiona T, Jason Turner, Dave O'Donnell, Rhys Benjamin
LIBERAL DEMOCRAT-Thomas Cappleman, Brett Davids, Ben H, Dave Robjohns, Wesley Barton
MONSTER RAVING LOONY-Hazel Drury, Martin Thomas, Darren Godfrey, Andy SC, Damian McEvoy
SCOTTISH NATIONAL-Bradley Horrocks, Vincent Barcet, Ian Volante, Oliver C, Jason Larsen

City Of London will be up later and the stream of games will kickstart on 28th September. Have fun you mental-heads. And if you don't like your teams, just remember that at least you aren't Boris Johnson...

Rhys Benjamin

Rhys Benjamin I'll just claim it's New Labour.

Andy SC

Andy SC In addition to the above, we decided to go for teams of 5. So in some rounds you will have two games show up at once. We will spread this evenly between players in each team.

M S R

M S R OK-slight change to things. To make things less of a logistical pain-in-the-arse, we've upped teams to six in size. Makes things easier for us to keep track of. The MRLP members have each been assigned a new party. Nothing else has changed. New teams here. Apologies for any issues caused!

Tourney round: Apterous Council Elections 2021: Sign-Ups

City of London >>

Notes from the organizer: Hello, and welcome to the product of Andy SC and MSR both going stir-crazy in during lockdown. I wanted a busman’s holiday from me degree. I think he just wants to watch you suffer.

So the last election seemed to go well, going down without many assassinations/corruption scandals/nuclear explosions, so it’s time for another jaunt of Aptocracy. It’s the UK’s turn to take the stage and, with council elections due in 2021, we are bringing all the joys of local government to Apterous. All 398 councils will be competed for, using near-enough every available format in the tourney system at least once. This clusterfuck will play out as follows…

-You sign up and will be randomly assigned to a party (Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat, Green, Brexit, Scottish National, Democrat Unionist, Plaid Cymru, Communist or Monster Raving Loony). The number of parties used will depend upon the numbers we garner.
-Each person from that team will them be assigned to play various rounds at random. Not all members will play each round, but each will play a similar-ish number of games. It will be the format against Prune, you aiming for highest score (akin to POTUS)
-Some councils have all their seats go up election at once. For those, one member from each team shall play and the winner takes all the seats available in that round.
-Some elect have of their councillors each time. For those, two members from each team shall and the top two win half each
-Some elect a third of their councillors. For those, three members of each team shall play, top three win a third each.

The only exception to this is the rather peculiar City of London, in which you will all play in, so as to give us time to get it all set up knowing numbers. Details TBC there.

Those with most seats at the end shall win. Please bear in mind, this is for the long-haul. This shall wrap-up in May 2021 on the day of the local elections, but you will only be playing bots, mostly Prune.

All gubbins here-https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DOQJUOdT1pyyfC93CknbiX3BGPnklwUrYuel53IVZF4/edit#gid=0 We start with the aforementioned City on 21st September for what we are hoping will be a fun distraction from having Boris Johnson as Prime Minister/having Keir Starmer as leader of the opposition (delete where appropriate, but I can imagine which one most of you would go for).
