M S R

M S R So we have our winner. #Robjohns2020 becomes President of Apterous on a pledge of spoilage in all schools and outlawing anything that isn't 6S.

My thanks to all contenders-this has been tremendous fun. Congratulations once more to Dave-the competition he defeated was immense.

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns Cheers MSR, been a fantastic tourney, many many thanks for running it! Was the first tourney I ever entered, so a great introduction to what is now my favourite part of apterous. So many twists and turns over the series, and a lot of fun discovering new variants. It's been a nervy 3 months waiting to see if my one skill giving me Texas would be enough to make the final, and then I just got very fortunate with a comparatively easy game at the end. Kudos to the other finalists on their consistency throughout, all much more worthy winners than me!!

Now then, about my salary... ;)

Bradley Horrocks

Bradley Horrocks Great win Dave, always good to see new names winning! Thanks for the madness MSR, I admire the effort you put into something as trivial as the state descriptions as well as the organising stuff, you really brought the tourney to life. In fact, can we go all the way and instate Dave as POTUS?

Callum Todd

Callum Todd Cracking tournament MSR, thanks very much for all your work on it. The highlight of apterous over the past few months imo.

Looking forward to seeing which pop bands refuse to play at Dave's inauguration now.

Elliott Mellor

Elliott Mellor Thoroughly enjoyable tournament, excellently run except for the fact you didn't read my message offering favours in exchange for victory.

Callum Todd

Callum Todd what?! Matthew I'm disappointed. I had thought this was an excellent simulation of an American election cycle, but now I hear you refused an opportunity at corruption? Disgraceful.

Notes from the organizer: And now...The end is near. Back in late February, I posted the sign-ups for this in a Sociology class when the teacher had is back turned. Four months, many rounds, one lockdown and several governmental fuck-ups later, we reach the end.

Five very able candidates now face a Spoilage NA-the extra points the candidates have from states won are in the notes column. I hope for this to be played live-watch this space! The victor wins a four-year term. I shall bring this back with a few twists in 2024 (should I still be here) and maybe the Midterms...We shall see.

Good luck and my many thanks to all-this has been immense fun to run, some astounding games played and it has been a nice tonic from trying not to come to blows with the family/wanting to punch Matt Hancock/doing an eye test on A688 near Barnard Castle.

Ran from: 3 – 8 July 2020. Format: Spoilage Numbers Attack. Matches: One-off. Approved.

Organizers: M S R.

Fixtures: 4. Completed: 4.
