πŸ₯ˆ πŸ‡«πŸ‡· Dan Byrom (234)
πŸ₯‰ πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ Bradley Horrocks (219)

Dan’s amazing sprint finish (including a pencil) not quite enough to take gold as he falters at the con and is passed by Joseph. Bradley takes bronze, moving away from a packed field in the 205+ range by finishing off with 9 consecutive maxes.

Fun fact: The marathon distance only became 26.2 miles during the 1908 London Olympics. Queen Alexandra requested that the distance was adjusted so the royal household could see the race from Windsor Castle. Prior to this - from 1896 to 1908 marathons of approximately 25 miles were held.

Bonus fact: One of the runners in the 1912 Marathon finally finished it in 1967.

Third fun fact: This guy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budhia_Singh allegedly completed 50 marathons by the age of 4 after being sold by his mother for β‚Ή850. It's an interesting read.

Ran from: 13 – 19 July 2020. Format: Marathon. Matches: One-off. Approved.
