Bradley Horrocks

Bradley Horrocks Ben went first and came very close to claiming victory, but Waldorf caught up at the end and Ben couldn't match Waldorf on the last numbers.

Joseph must have also feared losing, he trailed by a point going into the last numbers which turned out to be trivial. Fortunately for him, even the stronger bots sometimes miss the easy ones, and both Joseph and his bot were stumped by the conundrum.

This all means that with a perfect 8 out of 8 wins, Joseph wins this closely matched final! Even more impressive that he took on the second strongest bot to feature in this tourney, even Prime might have struggled against apto's rising star. We'll find out next time I guess!

Great to have 49 entrants, I hope many of you join next time!*

*there is likely to be a next time, though no promises

Tourney round: Beat Your Bot II (Lockdown Edition): The Final

<< Round 3 Extension

Notes from the organizer: Some 49 players entered this bot bash, but now it culminates with 2 finalists. At least 6 of you gained points in every round, including the tricky Round 4. Unfortunately, perfection was a necessity for making the final - very impressive stuff from our following finalists:

Ben Leyburn: 65 points (vs Waldorf), biggest margin 110 in bonus round, smallest margin 0 (!) in R1 - where he won on a tiebreak

Joseph H: 65 points (vs Velvet), biggest margin 50 in bonus round, smallest margin 15 in R6. Impressively, no crucials!

Their perfect records will be put to the test in a Hyperlock 15 battle against their allocated bot. Just like in previous rounds, there'll be up to 3 attempts. If one wins attempt 1 and the other loses, the winner is champion. If both win, the player to win by the biggest margin is champion. If both lose, we go on to attempt 2 and repeat the process, and then for attempt 3 if needed. If there is still no winner after 3 attempts, the player to lose by the smallest margin in their best game wins.

Good luck to both finalists - this could get tense!

Ran from: 6 – 9 May 2020. Format: Hyperlock 15. Matches: One-off. Approved.

Organizers: Bradley Horrocks.

Fixtures: 2. Completed: 2.
