Matthew Tassier No current scores registered.

Matthew Tassier Hazel's score looks rather good to me, but will it end up counting?
Matthew Tassier No current scores registered.
| |
Matthew Tassier Callum, like Hazel, get's to play a game but must return to sort out his position in a previous round.
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier We have an occupant for the Strongest Link throne. Well done Hazel! But I'm sure she will have more work to do soon.
Hazel Drury Thanks, Matthew. Think I'll be sent right back to Round 3 Touch Junior NA this afternoon :)
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier Hazel gets sent back, but only as far as Round 10 for now, while Callum improves his score to become today's king of the castle.
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier With Callum all the way back in Round 1, it's Chris who can kick back and bask in his glory for today.
Jim M Well, slightly less embarrassing a score at least
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier Jim cracks the century mark and has another chance today to chase the current big cheese, Callum.
Matthew Tassier No changes at all today so Callum can put his feet up.
Callum Todd Not sure about put my feet up. I am the hunted and Jim is the hunter. This is nerve wracking!
Jim M Really, you need me to get a score between 132 and 146 so you can have another pop at Hazel's score. Unfortunately for you I haven't shown any signs of that yet.
Callum Todd I have tried to work out which permutations might lead to me having to fear Chris and Hazel and others, but it made my head hurt so I stopped.
| |
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier An improved high score from Jim, with time to nab a neat gold pencil. Today Chris has the chance to chase the other scores here while Callum's reign continues for now.
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier Chris improves his score, but it's still Callum sitting proudly on his perch.
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier Chris continues to stalk his prey, getting closer with another improved score, but Callum remains at the apex of the competition.
Chris Hare Ah, I see you have mistaken 'limping around at the limits of my competence' for 'stalking my prey'. We apologise for the confusion.
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier Jim returns to the final round for today's chance to chase Callum's score.
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier No change today, Jim's earned another opportunity to attack Callum.
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier Five 9-ers from Jim give him a potentially tournament-winning 143, but at the moment he has left the final round as today we will see new challenger John attempt to knock Chris off the pedestal that he may be surprised to finally find himself returning to.
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier John posts a score, but Jim ousts him from the final round and Chris from the top spot to claim the throne for the first time.
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier The loss from the tournament of two previous finalists leaves the leaderboard pretty empty. Bradley will challenge for Jim's place in the hotseat as we approach the end of the tournament tomorrow.
Matthew Tassier Strongest Link:
| |
Matthew Tassier Bradley's first attempt at the final round is higher than Jim's was, but he still his a big deficit to make up as the two finalists face their final games. Well done to both for surviving all the way here!
Matthew Tassier So, final games are up. You both have until midnight GMT to play your games and try to improve your scores. Then, we will have a champion.
Jim M Nice of my keystrokes not to register in R11! Though it would have made no difference other than to get my a tie rather than a loss in the individual game. Thanks, Matthew - nervous wait now.
Bradley Horrocks Congrats Jim! You got here early and that paid off with the tough score. Surprised to get this far myself, in truth.
| |
Fiona T Congrats Jim - superbly done! Hard luck Bradley - was always going to be a tough ask - runner up a pretty awesome achievement too!
Jim M Thanks Bradley and Fiona. Bradley - I've no doubt that with as many attempts as I had it would have been a different story, and I had my fair share of luck in other rounds with better players and scores being eliminated, or bots performing with variability. Very pleased to get my first ever tourney win on Apto after a lot of work, though :)
| |
Jim M (Interesting to note also Bradley that we drew today 104-104 on apto, and 2-2 on the football pitch :) )

Jim M I've just realised that last comment isn't true, it was Caesar that scored 104 not me, so ignore
Matthew Tassier Final result:
| |
Matthew Tassier Well done Brad on his improved final score in the 797th and final game of the tournament, but 143 was a huge target to have to chase, and Jim a worthy winner after many strong games through the tournament. So Jim, you are this years Strongest Link. Congratulations!
Matthew Tassier A big thank you to everyone who took part with enthusiasm and made it a (somewhat involved) pleasure to run the tournament. The kind words from many you after your painful eliminations are very much appreciated. Keep an eye out for more fun/complicated/bizarre tournaments when I have the chance to run them. Goodbye! *Disturbing Wink*
Linda McGrory Congrats to Jim. This was a tough but enjoyable tournament. |
Notes from the organizer: The 11th and final round pits the two finalists against each other in the Lightning Goatblitz arena. Apterous Caeser is the willing bot victim.
The higher scoring player out of the 2 who finally find themselves in this round on the final day of the tournament will be declared the champion. If scores are tied then the winner will be decided firstly on number of maxes, then on who was first to play their game.
Each day the player currently in place as the tournament Strongest Link won't be given a new game, having earnt the right to bask in their glory. The only exception is on the last day of the tournament when both final finalists will be given one last attempt to improve their score.
For a reminder of some of the more complicated aspects of this tournament's rules please refer back to round 1.
Best of luck to the finalists!
