Martin Hurst After 11 individual matches played out of 50 (end of 2/7/17):

We'd Rather Be Drinking (Zarte's team) are up in 3, level in 1, behind in 0

The Shambolic Choliambs (Tom Cappleman's team) and The tea Cosies (Thomas Carey's team) are both ahead in 1, level in 2, and behind in 1

Rogue Scholars (Stephen R's team) are ahead in 1, level in 1, and behind in 2

DLLT (Elliot's team) are ahead in 1, and behind in 3.

DLLT v Rogue Scholars is the only match where victory has been confirmed so far, as DLLT are 3-0 up with two to play.

Early days though - lots will change :)

Martin Hurst

Martin Hurst After 15 individual matches played out of 50 (1am 4/7/17):

We'd Rather Be Drinking (Zarte's team) are up in 3, level in 1, behind in 0

Rogue Scholars (Stephen R's team) are ahead in 2, level in 1, and behind in 1

The Shambolic Choliambs (Tom Cappleman's team) are ahead in 2 and behind in 2.

The Tea Cosies (Thomas Carey's team) are ahead in 1, behind in 3, as are DLLT (Elliot's team)

DLLT v Rogue Scholars is still the only match where victory has been confirmed so far, as DLLT are 3-0 up with two to play.

Martin Hurst

Martin Hurst After 20 individual matches played out of 50 (end of 7/7/17), the situation is still exactly the same as above, other than Rogue Scholars have secured their first victory over The Shambolic Choliambs as they are 3-0 up with two to play.

All teams have completed 9 out 20 individual fixtures, apart from The Tea Cosies who have completed just 4 (and 3 of those are Matty!)

Just over 2 weeks to get these fixtures completed :)

Martin Hurst

Martin Hurst After 29 individual matches played out of 50 (end of 12/7/17):

We'd Rather Be Drinking (Zarte's team) and Rogue Scholars (Stephen R's team) are both ahead in 3, and behind in 1.

DLLT (Elliot's team) are ahead in 1, level in 2, and behind in 1.

The Shambolic Choliambs (Tom Cappleman's team) are ahead in 1, level in 1, and behind in 2.

The Tea Cosies (Thomas Carey's team) are level in 1 and behind in 3.

It can all change very quickly though, as 6 of the 7 unresolved matches are ever level or have just one point in it.

In for a crazy finish with 4 of the 5 live games remaining poised at 2-2, 3 of which involving Zarte's team!

The 4 deciders to be played are:

Tom Chafer-Cook (DLLT) v Tim Down (SC)
Liam O (WRBD) v Tim Down (SC)
Liam O (WRBD) v Hazel Drury (RS)
Jason Turner (WRBD) v Jon Wilford (TC)

Remember, the top 2 from the group stage go through to next week's final.....

Martin Hurst Latest standings: http://tyroreports.wixsite.com/aaaa

For the purposes of avoiding any manipulation, no dead rubber results will count from now, which means the situation is this......

Rogue Scholars have qualified for the final :)

The Shambolic Choliambs and The Tea Cosies are out :(

The final live match between Tom Chafer-Cook (DLLT) and Liam O (WRBD) will decide which team will play Rogue Scholars in the final.

Currently it is WRBD 2.5-1.5 DLLT https://www.apterous.org/to_tourney.php?tourney=1970 - if Tom wins it will be 2.5-2.5 and both team will have identical records in terms of both teams will be W2 D1 L1, and have a +1 overall points difference, with their match against each other a draw.

Therefore it will go on actual points difference in the match against each other. Currently WRBD are 21 points ahead, so Tom will need to beat Liam by 22 or more to overturn this.

Tourney round: Apterous Team Cup: Sign-up page

DLLT v The Shambolic Choliambs >>

Notes from the organizer: ***To be played over the month of July.***

Depending on number of sign-ups, it will either be 5 teams of 6 (30), 6 teams of 7 (42), or 7 teams of 8 (56).

Based on 5 teams of 6 (pots/teams will be adjusted logically if the numbers differ), the 30 accepted entrants to be split into 6 pots of 5 based on ratings/pro-ranks, decided by the top-secret anonymous seeding committee.

Those in the first pot (highest rated) to be invited to be the captains of the 5 teams, if anyone doesn’t want to be a captain, they will move to pot 2, and the next highest rated person in pot 2 will be invited to be a captain instead.

Captains will pick the rest of their team based on a draft system (i.e. they will get 1st choice of one of the other pots, 2nd of another, 3rd of another, 4th of another, last of another) done privately via Aptomail (to avoid everyone seeing who was picked last!) during the last week or so of June.

Final teams will then be announced formally.

Captains to also name their teams anything they like (within reason of course!).

The teams will all play each other in a round-robin format (with all the fixtures open together), with each match being in a Ryder Cup format (i.e. a point if you win, no points if you lose, 0.5 for a draw) with the individual matches being played between the opposing team members in their corresponding pot (so all matches will be between people of broadly the same skill), with 2 points going to the team who wins the overall match, and 1 each for a draw.

The top 2 in the round-robin group will then play each other again in the final. If the final is a draw, the captains will play off in a decider.

So, basically signing up means you will play somewhere between 4 and 7 normal 15 round matches against people of a similar rating to you over the whole month.

Whilst I'm hoping for a decent level of interest for this, I'd also appreciate it greatly if you do not apply if you have doubts about the level of commitment that you can give this during July, as you will be part of a team and not participating will let others down.

Hopefully we can muster some friendly inter-team rivalry and bantz, and a daily-updated website will be set up in due course.

***Sign-ups will close immediately when the next player number threshold (30, 42 or 56) is breached after 21st June.***

Any questions, feel free to ask in the comments.
