Tom Cappleman Do buzzes at the same time count as the right order?
| |
Jamie M Buzzes at the same time count as being in the right order, and if you somehow get the same word twice but in different times that also counts.

Jamie M Oh ok. Yeah sorry for some reason I didn't think to specify that, I must just not have got any at the same time when I tested it.

Jon Stitcher Apterous Sponge decided to have a go and managed 15.

Jamie M I like how Alertly was his latest buzz, not sure he knows the alphabet. If he signs up to the round *looks at Jon* he can have some points :)
Jon Stitcher haha, it was my fault, I challenged the wrong bot.

Zarte Siempre Decided I didn't want to share top spot, so unless I've done something wrong somewhere, that's 19 - ignore captivity.

Jamie M That always seems to happen at inconvenient times... here's how this finished. Note that for tied positions points get evenly distributed between the places involved.

Notes from the organizer: Welcome to Revolver, what I hope will be an on-going set of Apterous challenges for you to try as much as you like. The idea is that I set a challenge once every five days, and that each one runs for 20 days so four challenges run at any time. This one is conundrums-based, and the challenges will rotate through letters, numbers, conundrums and a mix of all three.
You can play whichever challenges you like; all you need to do is sign up to one on its round page and get started on it. Every challenge has an objective you need to complete, with extra points available depending on how you do it. These points then get converted into final scores as follows:
1st place: 100 points
2nd place: 80 points
3rd place: 70 points
All others: scaled between 20 and 60 points
The tournament has an overall leaderboard which is the total of all these final scores you've achieved.
So, here's the latest one, numbered C1 because it's conundrums challenge #1. It's a bit silly but having tested it I enjoyed it, so I'm sticking with it.
Name: BUZZ
Objective: Get ten or more conundrums in a single Conundrum Attack, BUT by getting them in a particular way. You have to solve them so that, if you put the answers in alphabetical order, you solve the first one alphabetically the fastest, the next one alphabetically the next fastest, and so on. So if two of your words are FLATTENED and OCCUPYING, you need to solve FLATTENED faster than you do OCCUPYING. This is the kind of thing I mean: http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=1253507. If you get any out of order (I just about did with the last round) they are ignored and the game still counts.
Variant/format: A Conundrum Attack in any variant that has one, EXCEPT for Touch Jr. I'm disallowing it because it has so few possible conundrums; this gives a lot of scope for repeated words which will make things quite a lot easier.
Scoring: Fitting more in gets progressively harder, so your provisional score for this is the number of ordered conundrums, SQUARED. 100 points for 10, 121 for 11, etc.
If you complete the challenge and want me to know about it, COMMENT ON THIS PAGE with a link to your game. If you solve any "out of order" then please say which one(s) or how many so I don't have to check every round. If you better it, comment again and that will replace your previous game. After every few completions I'll put up a table of who's scored what.
Hopefully that's all clear, but if not let me know. Good luck everyone!
Ran from: 27 March – 15 April 2014. Format: Nice Conundrum Attack. Matches: One-off. Approved.
Fixtures: 8. Completed: 8.
Key. Green: winner. Red: loser. Grey: tie. (Stripes: provisional, match in progress.)
