Charlie Reams

Charlie Reams Should be fun! This format is very rarely played and the high score record is from 2015 so I expect that to be beaten pretty quickly! https://www.apterous.org/viewformat.php?format=304&section=3

Dave Kempshall

Dave Kempshall Cheers for approving so quickly Charlie. Now to badger Dave to ensure I get all the rounds set up properly :)

George Armstrong

George Armstrong I think someone forgot to press "Allow sign ups"... ;)

Maybe a comment on this thread that people can "nice" to show their intentions of playing? (Unless sign yps can be reopened?) :)

Fiona T

Fiona T Signups presumably open on 1st December?

Dave Kempshall

Dave Kempshall Sorry guys, at the advice of Dave R, I temporarily closed them until I've got all the rounds set-up, although I will reopen them to avoid confusion.

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns Yeah can be switched on and off, we've just been chatting throughout the set-up and suggested that 7 weeks was quite a long period for sign-ups :) So the thinking was to leave it dormant and re-open it so it appears fresh for everyone in Nov!

James Robinson

James Robinson There haven’t been preliminaries at the PDC World Championships for the last 3 years, should be Rounds 1-4, then QF, SF, GF.👍

Dave Kempshall

Dave Kempshall I've tried to replicate it as best as possible James, but opted for Preliminary as a name as I felt it was unlikely we'd get 128 people signed up for what would be a full round 1. We may not even get 64 signed up, but let's hope so :)

Dave Kempshall Prelims are now live 1st - 9th Dec.

Tourney round: Apto Darts World Championship: Sign-ups

Preliminary Round >>

Notes from the organizer: Throwing some numbers / letters related arrows during December and early Jan.

Trying to replicate the real PDC Darts Championship, people fight off against each other in "short burst” sets.

A set is a five-rounder LNLNC (if approved) or CCCCC (open to feedback on either) and each round will be fought out over a ‘best of…’ format with the match length increasing as the rounds progress.

Prelims (if needed): Best of five sets
1st round (64 players: Best of five sets
2nd round (32 players): Best of seven sets
3rd round (16 players): Best of seven sets
Quarter-finals (8 players): Best of nine sets
Semi-finals (4 players): Best of eleven sets
Final (2 players): Best of thirteen sets

Unlike the real darts, there will be no seedings, so we could have some big clashes early on.

My first tournament as a host, so get involved :)

Run time: 1st December - 10th January
