| Oliver Garner There are 58 entries - I'm guessing 38 had entry into round 1 with the other 20 having a knockout to make up the other 10. The 48 qualifiers are put into 16 groups of 3, and can be worked out by seeing that your 2 opponents are playing each other and those with 1 opponent either need to qualify for round 1 or are waiting on a prelim match to be completed. |

Tourney round: Apterous Masters 2013: Qualifying & round 1
Notes from the organizer: The Apterous Masters tournament is back!
Apterous's oldest tournament returns for its sixth running in an expanded form. 48 players, made up of invited master players and skilled qualifiers, will participate in a group stage to determine which sixteen players will proceed to the knock-out stage.
Qualifying will proceed as it always has- players will play best-of-3 games in a knock-out format until enough players remain to take part in round 1 proper.
In round 1, all 48 players will be split into 16 groups of 3, and will play the other two players in their group. The group winner will proceed to round 2. In the event of a tie, number of games won will be used to break the tie, followed by the number of points scored.
