Tourney round: The Multiverse 2: Return Trip: Sign Up Page

Omelette >>

Notes from the organizer: As promised, welcome back to The Multiverse. Last year Matthew Brockwell was the champion having been involved in a tussle with Marcus Hares for top spot for most of the championship. Will we see a new champion this time?

In a change to last year, you will now have more time to complete each round, a total of 12 days (increased from 7), however a new round will start each Monday, meaning there will be overlap. I can now confirm the schedule will be..

Round 2: 19th-30th Sep: Octolock
Round 3: 26th Sep-7th Oct: Touchdown

Round 15: 19th-30th Dec: Stepdown

Extensions can be applied for until the day before the deadline. You do not have to play every round, although if you miss one you will score 0 points for that format. Latecomers who apply for a tourney on the day of the deadline will not have a game scheduled and will join the tourney at the start of the next round.

At the end of each stage, players will be ranked and will be scored in the same way as the daily duel, with the lowest placed person scoring 1 point, second lowest 2 points and so on. In the event of ties (after week 2), the person who has been highest ranked in an individual week will be placed first.

The Bonus points system will be returning, with a couple of changes.

Buzzwords- These are not returning, as they were a complete flop last year.

Pencils- If you pencil a word during a Multiverse game, you earn a bonus point.

Numberwang- Each week, a random number between 76 and 150 will be chosen. If your converted score is this number, you will recieve 2 bonus points. If nobody is spot on, the closest person (or people) will recieve 1 point. Last year random.org was used to generate the number, however this year will see a new format. This time, the number will be decided by members of the great British public who I meet with during the week, and may well include apterites (particuarly in weeks with CoEvents).

and new for 2016......

The Joker- I am going to try to impliment a joker system this year. This was discussed with Bojack over a few pints who likes the system, so blame him if it's a load of sloblock.

After the schedule is finalised, I will message entrants asking which format they would like to play the joker on. This must be declared before the start of the tournament otherwise you will have to play your joker in the final round (which will be a normal Stepdown 15). Late comers will be messaged as soon as they enter and will be allowed to choose one of the remaining weeks.

The joker will see your weeks points tally for the week doubled. E.g, if you come 3rd out of 18 for a week, you normally score 16 points, but with your joker, this will become 32 points. I will aptomail you about a week before Round 1 to see what format you would like as your joker, or if you already know, please contact me now.

Another bonus idea may be introduced, if I come up with anything good.

*Spoilage will be scored by your score will be calculated as a percentage of the max, and then scaled up to a score out of 150. e.g. 156/346 = 45.09% which becomes a score of 67.63/150 (to 2dp)

Hope to see lots of sign-ups, now and throughout the tourney. Good luck everyone.
