Chris Butler

Chris Butler Blimey, as if Spoilage wasn't hard enough, you pit us against Caesar to potentially rob us of our rare & precious points ! Good luck to all, I'm hoping for a minor miracle :)

Chris Butler

Chris Butler Make that PB 66, be afraid, be very afraid ;)

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier Decent effort against Caesar

Callum Todd

Callum Todd great way to end it. good luck chaps. (p.s. what happens when we discover we've gone through all these 23 rounds only for Caesar to emerge victorious in the final?...)

Callum Todd

Callum Todd damn you were right Caesar blanking you out on rounds that would score against prune is pretty infuriating.

Chris Butler

Chris Butler I have a lot on this week and my terrible home internet connection means I must go elsewhere to do competitions. I have it pencilled in for Thursday Afternoon. I'm praying that Caesar has a terrible hangover that day :)

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier Brutal play from Caesar against Thomas there.

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier And, we have a champion! Great game Chris, not easy to beat Caesar in this, and nice work through the tournament. Second place to Callum, cruising through to the final as top tournament scorer. And third is Thomas, hit by a huge performance by Caesar after so many strong games to get here. Three very worthy finalists.

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier A big thank you to everyone who took part and made it a smooth and enjoyable tournament to run. I plan to run another one same time next year, hope to see you all there.

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier GOODBYE!
*disturbing wink*

Gevin Chapwell

Gevin Chapwell Well done to everyone who made the final, and to Matthew for organising it. And especially well done to Chris for winning it. Callum looked the overall strongest player throughout the tournament generally, but it's all about the individual rounds in Weakest Link, so certainly a worthy winner.

Chris Butler Phew! Thanks Matthew for organising, it was a lot of fun! I feel a little guilty for snatching victory from a losing position coming into the final, but not too much as that is the nature of the Weakest Link I guess. Also I think that I took it a little more seriously than Callum & Thomas since I was the only one doing practise rounds (although to be fair my first practise run yielded a winning score anyway). In the process I think I’ve passed through the barrier from despising spoilage with a passion to quite enjoying it now, something I never envisaged! Well done to all involved, especially Chris Maudsley for his impeccable timing in getting caught out cheating ;) Looking forward to next years already :)

Callum Todd

Callum Todd Thanks for an awesome tourney Matthew, a great idea very well executed. Congratulations Chris, great showing in the final there.

Tom Cappleman

Tom Cappleman Thanks Matthew and the other competitors for a great tourney. Very well run - would love to see others like this.

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier Cheers guys. Glad to hear spoilage is growing on you Chris. Close to getting your first century, I see.

JNM Rawson

JNM Rawson Just been looking back through the tournament to prepare for my letters one, and how different it could have been for Chris B if a certain Chris M's account hadn't been deactivated in Round 11...

Tourney round: Weakest Link Numbers Tournament: Round 23 - Spoilage

<< Round 22 - Hyper Nasty

Notes from the organizer: Finally we reach the twenty-third and final round which will be played in the notorious Spoilage format against Apterous Caesar. Spoilage is the ultimate apterous test of arithmetic, time management, decision making and focus. Caesar will choose 4 large numbers and will miss quite a lot but will undoubtedly foil some great close declarations with perfect solves.
Let's check out the contenders:
Callum Todd - Cumulative points 3929, 6 * Strongest Link, 6 max games, spoilage PB 106
Thomas Cappleman - Cumulative points 3745, 2 * Strongest Link, 4 max games, spoilage PB 55
Chris Butler - Cumulative points 3725, 0 * Strongest Link, 5 max games, spoilage PB 65
So, Callum enters the final with the best tournament stats and also the highest spoilage PB, but with little room for error against two very talented numbers players. Can Thomas or Chris complete a fairytale win after both had lucky escapes much earlier in the tournament?
The highest scoring player in this round will be declared the champion. If there is a tie then margin of victory/defeat will be taken into account amongst tied players followed, if necessary, by total score in the tournament so far (see notes by matches).
Good Luck to the final three!

Ran from: 20 March – 2 April 2016. Format: Spoilage Numbers Attack. Matches: One-off. Approved.
