Gevin Chapwell

Gevin Chapwell After getting 170 in practice, that just went really wrong in the last few rounds.

Jon Stitcher

Jon Stitcher I think this could be the end of my run, some really tough rounds :(

Gevin Chapwell

Gevin Chapwell There's still a few people to play so it's still a bit early to say what the "cut-off" score will be. You might have gone some way to saving me though!

Jack Worsley

Jack Worsley You have a lifeline, Jon.

Gevin Chapwell

Gevin Chapwell What a shocker!

Gevin Chapwell

Gevin Chapwell Two non-declarations - did you have connection problems?

Chris Butler

Chris Butler Biggest shock of the comp! I presume like Gevin, that you had connection problems? Unlucky Jack, not out yet though....

Jack Worsley

Jack Worsley No connection problems, just maths problems. :) The first one I forgot to declare but didn't have it anyway and the second one I gave up on. Thanks Chris, but it will be a miracle if I get through.

Thomas Carey

Thomas Carey rip Jack

Gevin Chapwell

Gevin Chapwell Also RIP Jon (just don't know which).

Jon Stitcher

Jon Stitcher I'll be pretty gutted to go out here, I had such horrendous rounds, even most of my solves were pretty tricky

Callum Todd

Callum Todd Can't believe the standard was so high this round I was lucky for my selections to start getting a lot easier in the second half of my game or I'd be heading out too. After how difficult some of those rounds were I'd have though 120+ scores should be safe but the consistency of standard is this round is brilliant.

Callum Todd

Callum Todd Especially that Rex guy, he's done very well.

Gevin Chapwell

Gevin Chapwell I think we'll find more and more now that we cannot afford bad games. In the next round, only ten people will remain. Anyone having a nightmare can't rely on it also happening to someone else.

Gevin Chapwell

Gevin Chapwell I hope he won't mind me pointing this out, but Anthony Endsor has shown that it's not about getting the headline high scores each round, but being consistent and doing enough each time. From round 11 onwards he's had the lowest running total of anyone in the tournament, so has survived 8 consecutive rounds from this position.

Anthony Endsor

Anthony Endsor I've ridden my luck so far Gevin, but every round I keep thinking I must be getting closer to the end of my run. How I've managed to get into the top 10 of such a strong field I don't know, and now we're starting to see the big names leave the competition. I suppose I'm lucky that there's always been someone who's had a nightmare game.

Jon Stitcher

Jon Stitcher Breathes a big sigh of relief! Although I guess Jon had a nasty game, especially if Rex didn't get 200!

Jon Elmer

Jon Elmer Kind of knew I would be out on this one. Never played the variant before as far as I know. Got 120 in practise and decided I was ready... but even 120 wouldn't have been enough. Still, this is without doubt my favourite tournament on apterous since I joined. GL to all who remain.

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier Very well done to the those of you going through to the final 10, I think you have all survived some tough games to get this far. A great game this round from Mervyn sees him being the Strongest Link for the second time.

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier Jack has played some great games to get this far and Jon has fought his way through impressively. But, Jack and Jon E you are the Weakest Links, GOODBYE!

Jack Worsley

Jack Worsley Thanks for hosting, Matthew. It's certainly been something different and have really enjoyed the challenge. Good luck to everyone left in!

Notes from the organizer: Just a dozen of you have made it to round eighteen which will be played in Hypertouch format against Apterous Rex. Rex chooses 4 large numbers and in Hypertouch those numbers may be repeated.
The two lowest scoring players in this round will leave the tournament. If there is a tie for lowest scores then margin of victory/defeat will be taken into account amongst tied players followed, if necessary, by total score in the tournament so far (see notes by matches).
Good luck!
