Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre Any chance of this being updated?

Johnny Canuck

Johnny Canuck Yup. Along with the first MAXkerade results. Probably Sunday. You have a tie against Jack, so I think I'm going to have to set up a third 9 rounder. (If I want to use this tourney creator, the formats for all games have to be the same.)

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre No tie, Jack goes through. I needed a tie-break to get 10 ahead in mine, it's only right he moves on.

Johnny Canuck

Johnny Canuck That's very respectful of you. You don't need to, but I have removed the fixture.

Johnny Canuck

Johnny Canuck Will update the bracket as soon as I get out of class.

Ian Volante

Ian Volante I'm certainly curious as to whether Edwin and Thomas are ever going to play.

Johnny Canuck

Johnny Canuck Might try giving them a shout; don't want to close the round abruptly on them now, to be honest (even if I did say I was going to be stricter).

Johnny Canuck

Johnny Canuck Congratulations to Jack on making the FINAL MATCH! Mind you, it may take a full pharaonic cycle before it will actually be played...

Matthew Brockwell

Matthew Brockwell Is this tourney ever going to finish?

Marcus Hares

Marcus Hares I think my longest tourney was about 4hrs - this has been going on for 17 months!!

Johnny Canuck

Johnny Canuck To be honest, I'm not all that interested in running scheduled tourneys at the moment, sorry. :( At some point I might try to round up the remaining players for a quick knockout, but I started this tourney shortly after I joined Apterous and wasn't aware of all of the organizational quibbles (particularly fair ways to handle people who don't play their games) when it began. I am speaking honestly; feel free to hate me all you want for it.

Johnny Canuck

Johnny Canuck Is anyone interested in entering a final knockout to decide the winner of the Great Pyramid? If you are, please say so here.

Johnny Canuck

Johnny Canuck It would be single elimination. Sorry again guys, but (for the time being) I'm more interested in small-scale chat teasers, conundrums, and so on.

Zarte Siempre

Zarte Siempre Tbh, I'm not interested in a tournament being sorted in a way outside of the way the tournament is meant to be sorted, so feel free to count me out if the other players left want to go that route.

Tourney round: The Great Pyramid: Ramses' Tomb

<< 17th Floor

Notes from the organizer: Well, there will be no more need for approval of new floors. Upon the group's ascent to the Pyramid's 18th, one of our tour guides pointed out a golden sarcophagus lying against a wall. As soon as everyone walked into the room,

"Welcome... to the end! You have come far, but no one escapes the curse of the Pharaoh Ramses Gesneriad IX! Only one of you may escape with the Pyramid's treasure. It is time to choose the one who will become the next ruler of the Apterian Empire. Best of luck to all... you will need it here.

"It is a prophecy of our land: when the leader of the winners clashes with that of the losers (ha ha), a new era will arrive in Apteria. The format for this last is a double-elimination showdown. Each pair of combatants must undertake two consecutive 9 Rounders. And if any match remains unplayed, both contestants will be credited with a zero score and the higher-seeded one will move forward. You may speak to my advisor, the almighty Johnny Canuck, through the comment sidebar should you have any requests."

A mysterious winged jackal has also soared into the air and began to write a hieroglyphic message in flaming letters in the sky. The tour guide duly translated it for us; it appeared to be the URL of the tourney page...

The format for all further games will be a pair of consecutive 9 Rounders (LLLNLLLNCLLLNLLLNC). All players have a week from the date of approval to complete their games, and this may be extended by three days if they request it in advance. Who will rule... whatever Ramses used to rule? Find out here and now!

PS: The Antimatter semi-finals will be (re)organized this weekend, too.

Ran from: 7 June – 7 August 2014. Format: 9 Rounder. Matches: One-off. Approved.

Organizers: Johnny Canuck.

Fixtures: 28. Completed: 28.
