Zarte Siempre I'm entering for now, cause I don't want to miss it if I end up being around - will try and withdraw with plenty of notice if I'm gonna be doing something.
Charlie Reams Entering quickly and withdrawing with plenty of notice; you're a true gent, Zarte.
Zarte Siempre Well played sir.
Zarte Siempre Inc. me, at least 3 of your players are being waylaid Charlie. However we may or may not attempt to play in a drunken haze. Does your handicap system allow for that? :P
Charlie Reams Yes, and there will be compulsory urine tests for the winner.
Zarte Siempre To make sure they're not intoxicated or to make sure they are? :P
Charlie Reams To check for traces of Lexplorer.
Zarte Siempre LMAO | |
Charlie Reams Last pair of places up for grabs now!
Charlie Reams Quite a few dropouts so we have some space now. Get in early please!
Charlie Reams Reminder that this is today!
Ben Wilson Am afraid I'm going to have to withdraw, I've had family descend on me with virtually zero notice and can't guarantee I'll be around for 8pm. :-( Sorry 'bout that.
Nick W I have to drop out too - sorry for the short notice.
Ian Volante Apologies as well, been offered food, can't turn that down!
Jason Turner If the other 16 could drop out that'd be super!
Charlie Reams Congrats to Jon O'Neill, our winner with 9 wins from 10 games; second place Ray Wilding with 8 from 10, and third Matthew Brockwell with 7 from 10. Congrats all!

Jim B This was awesome. | |
Jim B But the next one should be normal or Gevin scoring, maxes only is a bit brutal I thought, especially when playing shit. The handicap's irrelevant if no-one's getting maxes.
Jamie M Thanks again Charlie, glad I decided to join in. If we're thinking ahead I reckon Handicap Stepdown would be interesting...
Jon Stitcher Sorry I missed it everyone, dozed off on the couch :(
Zarte Siempre Looks like it was great fun :) Sorry I couldn't play and dragged off other people :P |
Notes from the organizer: It's back! Starting 8pm, Saturday 22 March.
The format this time will be: 15 rounder, maxes-only scoring. Here's the really exciting bit: this will be a handicap tournament. I've been working on some cool stuff to calculate the handicaps and (according to the tests in my secret lair inside a volcano), it makes for very, very close games for people of pretty much all skill levels. So if you've never won a tournament before, this really could be your night.
We now support handicaps properly, so there won't be any messy maths to figure out who's won -- you'll see the correct handicapped score right inside the game.
Official kirk-off is 8pm. Please be online to check in by this time or your place is liable to be given away to someone who forgot to sign up. As usual, there will be 10 Swiss-paired rounds, with a single playoff game if the top two are tied on wins. (If, as last time, there's a multi-way tie on wins, those players will play a round-robin decider.)
Approximate schedule:
Round 1: 8:10.
Round 2: 8:25
Round 3: 8:40.
[Break]
Round 4: 9:05
Round 5: 9:20
Round 6: 9:35
[Break]
Round 7: 10:00
Round 8: 10:15
Round 9: 10:30
Round 10: 10:45.
So, sign up! I'll probably limit it to 24 players but we'll see how it goes.
